Soloing Mission 5-2

This thread would be directed at Apple Pie(grendal). I have been searching the forum for an old thread i believe you had posted on soloing the shadowlord. I have your old video of you performing the death defying deed. I would like to ask if you could tell me what lvl you were when you did this and your equpiments. You went in as a RDM/DRK and changed between Tiger Jerkin and AF Tabbard. If you could also provide me some useful strategems you used it would be much appreciated.

I have used your technique for mission 5-1 and was suprised as an elvaan i was able to solo it sucessfully, though i had to make afew adjustment to the style of play as i am elvaan and do not have the mp pool and int you have, but nontheless i did it.

Now i want to take on shadowlord, and in the future get revenge on Ose who had killed me when i was lvl 58 and zoned into Onzozo just to find him at the zone ><.

I was LV68 when I did this. You can check my equipments here. I had nothing special.

I believe the lowest record is Mithra RDM63/BLM31 although she used a lot of medicines. I am sure you can solo him now.

The most important thing is how we fight when his HP was down to 50% in the first stage. He starts to have either "No Physical Attack Effect (when his sword shines)" or "No Magical Attack Effect (when his left hand shines).

No Physical Attack Effect = He only uses his sword
Because Bind and Gravity lands without problem, just stay away from him. Nuke or Cast Poison II. Aspir and Drain are also nice if you sub either BLM or DRK. He doesn't cast spells but if he already has Icespike up, remember to dispel it.

No Magical Attack Effect = He only casts spells
We have to melee but be careful when he already has Icespike up since Dispel doesn't work.

By the way, it's just a tip. It is said that we should avoid darksday since his AoE, Implosion, used in the 2nd stage has a dark attribute and is strengthened.

Finally, Congratulations on your achievement at M5-1. I'm glad to know more and more RDMs have fun soloing.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but if I were to try this as a 66 RDM/BLM (or WHM), what kind of supplies would I need in terms of medicines and foods?

Because he hits us hard, you may want to eat either Fish Mithkabob (Chiefkabob) or Steamed Crab to increase your def. Black Curry is also nice since it gives you +5 acc and +5 eva while it increases 18% of your def.

During the fight, casting Regen and Refresh might waste your time. Therefore, you may want to bring both Persicos Au Lait (2 - 3) and Yagudo Drinks (as many as possible).

As for medicines, you might have trouble with your MP and I think it's nice to have Vile Elixer or Vile Elixer +1 (or both) to back it up. Pro-Ether is also good.
