  • RDM solo hitlist?

Yea okay... even tho I've been playing for quite some time, I'm still only a level 50 rdm(leveling buddy went awol, been leveling various jobs to sub). I've no doubt that I will hit 75 one day.

One of my favorite aspects of the rdm class is their ability to solo some really tough mobs. NMs in particular.

So... I was wondering if u guys could help me out... you see, one of my ultimate goals is to solo every tough mob I can with my rdm. All I've really heard of is Kraken, some of the primes, shadow lord(supposedly not really tough but a cool feat), and bloodtear(...i think  ).

What are some of the other noteworthy mobs nms rdm can solo and possibly duo. Imma make a list, and take em out one by one >D.
...so we will step away from the mainstream to live like vagabonds and common dropouts... don't you want to hang out and waste your life with us? -Spike

I've heard low mumblings of well-prepared RDMs soloing Simurgh, Roc and Serket but perhaps that's just low mumblings.^^

I'm actually most impressed by things like the soloing of Arclich Taber'quon from Mission 11 because of the level cap, though soloing some of the older HNMs certainly is a feat in itself.
    There will be cake.

      55 - 59

I was my RDM and was just soloing Reapers in the cave and i see this gob so i look it up and its 55-59 so i decide to try and kill it.... this bastard droped me like a bad habbit with its double strike and the stupid thing is i went in all buff and the buffs would just disappear like Haste would be gone after he hit me and Protect and Shell vanished so i am going to hit 60 and come back with a friend and kick his sorry goblin ass.

I soloed Shadow Dragon tonight as I just happened by him on the way to Uleguerand Range and he was very easy, though he still hits hard. I remember a convo a long time ago where someone said a RDM needed to be mid-60s to take him safely because of his petra move, but low-and-behold, that move can be negated by turning around before he uses it (and his charge time is at least a few seconds, so it was easily avoided).

Not much of a feat, but I figured since we talked about it a while ago, may as well bring it up.

how can some of the NMs moves be stoped just by a simple turn of the character?

It's the way the attacks designed.

            Didn't Kristin solo Ose?
There is no knowledge without experience.

Those eye moves can all be avoided by turning around, including Amemit's (and lizards in general) Baleful Eye petra move, Shadow Dragon's petra move and I believe that cockatrice have a similar move that does either petra or silence. Stay unlocked from the mob and when you see it prepping the eye-move, turn around.^^

I know Kristin solos Aquarius all the time, but I'm not sure about Ose...

It seems that RDM75/THF37 with Dagger can solo Lumber Jack although it may take us 30 minutes or more

Well, one of rookies (RDM50/THF15) in my LS told me he was almost killed by Weeping Willow (A trigger monster of Lumber Jack) when I (RDM73/THF36) was farming at Castle Zvahl Baileys today. I went there to see if I can solo it.

I killed Weeping Willow easily and Lumber Jack showed up soon. We engaged with it. I didn't see any saplings by the way... I don't know why.

It often used Stonga IV and Break (= Petrify) but with Barstone and Barpetrify, I often resisted the former and perfectly resisted the latter. Silence didn't work. I took around 50 - 90 damage per hit but with my farming gears for Zvahl (+23 Evasion), I was able to evade 70.6% of its attacks. It attacked me very fast like Aquarius.

The only problem was MP consumption. I had to convert in the middle of the battle and I was killed while I was doing this (I was just careless enough not to see Stoneskin was already off). Anyway, I felt it was risky to convert during the battle and I was told that Dagger and WS:Energy Drain were necessary to solo it.

If I have a chance, I'm going to try that today with Hornet Needle or Misericorde.

i saw 4 people take down roc before. all level 75s. 1 dragoon 1 bst and 2 rdms or whms. (forgot what they were ><)

oh the bst and the drg both subbed level 37 nin

took them like 20 minutes to beat it too.

At lv66, I, along with a lv70 nin, lv75 pld, lv75 brd, and lv60 whm managed to take down Roc. Didn't take us that long, and the paladin was more or less useless. The main problem when we did it was that Roc delayed Benediction until just over 25% health. If I was higher level, and the ninja had a thf to help with aggro, and no paladin around...probably would've been faster. The WHM could've been a RDM.

Basically, a NIN, RDM, BRD, and BLM could team this as low as lv70. The problem is mainly an issue of endurance...with this few people, you have to go through a *ton* of HP...then Roc benedicts...and you have to do it all over again. I would be willing to bet that a NIN and a RDM could easily duo Roc if both were lv75, but it'd take a god awful long time. Add a Ranger or a BLM for extra damage, and a bard to make the rng/blm more efficient (hunter's prelude for RNG, additional +3 mp/tick for blm, as well as occasional trenodies (most are resisted)).

EDIT: Let me clarify why I said the PLD was useless. Since you have fewer people, the fight is invariably longer. Since that was the case, we had to have the NIN tank the majority of the time because he required *much* less MP to keep healed. Bard gave him double mambo (the +evasion song), which seemed to do wonders. The PLD mainly was an MP drain, although had we more healers/damagers, he would've been the better choice (I could nuke much harder while the PLD tanked, but the WHM would go OOM much faster, and I was forced to back-up heal until the NIN regained hate (usually a WS and some debuffs)).

My old LS on Ragnarok performed a similar feat on Simurgh with a 75MNK/WAR tanking, and only a mid-60s BST otherwise for damage. The other members basically focused on healing the MNK. These old HNMs are definately a possibility for 75RDM to solo, with proper preperation, I think.

Yah ;3 ... was somewhat risky because Ose's attacks has additional effect: Paralyze, and I was doing nuke-nuke-sleep pattern instead of nuke-sleep-nuke-sleep.

                        Aquarius is easy too.

I'd love to try harder NMs like Serket or Behemoth, but I'd say that /nin is required, and under normal circumstances it's practically impossible to win the pull in the first place.

Although I am in no position to say from first or second hand experience, I still say that it's next to impossible to solo Behemoth with any job at any level. Maybe if you bought a grip of medicine and got really lucky or something, but meh.

You'd be surprised. I've killed behemoth extremely comfortably with 3 people on serverup, the tank being a thf/nin who held him solo for 15 minutes before me and a bard came as backup (we weren't needed, just to make the fight quicker and less risky).

                              so far....

                              -Shadow Dragon
                              -Aquarius
                              -Lumber Jack
                              -Serket
                              -Roc
                              -Behemoth
                              -Simurgh
                              -Bloodtear
                              -Kraken

Yeah I know a lot of these are kinda unsure... but that's all I need to try. Anything else ^^

also which of the primes are unsoloable? ._.?
