Looking for suggestions for skills ups @ lvl 60

So I finally made level 60 put on my hat, and decided to take some time off to skill up some of my lower skills, mostly combat related, as all of my magic except divine and dark (about 20 points down ) are capped already.

The main skill im worried about is Evasion, its at about 130 which is quite low for level 60. Ive tried most everything in crawlers nest and only manage to net maybe a .3 per 5 + fights. Anyone know any better ways to skill this up, perhaps different mobs, I might give kuftal robber crabs a try later on, id imagine they would be even match maybe a bit lower now. So any suggestions are appreciated!

Another question slightly off topic but at the same time not. Does using phalanx and stoneskin reduce your chances for getting evasion skill ups? The reason i ask is because it seemed everytime they were on Id never get anything but then theyd wear off maybe mid fight and id catch a .1 to .3. Not all of the time but a few times, so perhaps it was just lucky. So if anyone has any idea let me know.

i'd say just go straight to kuftal if you're trying to cap evasion...it'll go up much faster there. also, blink, stoneskin, and phalanx should not hinder your skill up rate. there have been times when a monster missed me because i had blink up and i got evasiion + or it simply missed me and i got evasion +. usually though, my evasion goes up when i'm getting hit...whether its for 300 or for 0 (with stoneskin).

At that level, I capped my combat skills on Kuftal Robber Crabs. Just make sure not to put any DOTs on them as until you get your Evasion up there, you are probably going to need to go through a couple of Sleep cycles.

Your evasion should naturally cap to the level of the monsters that you farm. Around level 65 it is reasonably safe to farm cockatrice, this is what my evasion more or less hung around for a while. Near your early 70's go to sky and fight light elementals, I gained over 30 evasion skill off them and is now capped at our wonderful abysmal 210.

Quite honestly unless you plan to do some serious soloing you might as well wait til your 70's to cap evasion, in fact all your skills can easily be capped off a few light elemental solo's.

how would...say...a 70 blm and 72 whm pair do vs these elementals? is it possible to hit them reliably with 200+ skill and ~+15-20 acc?

Therein lies the problem, iIdont farm mobs for money, I do BCNMs etc for money, hence why my evasion did fall so far behind to begin with I think. Im going to give robber crabs a try tho. Right now with protect III I clear about 300 defense with 130 evasion, so im going to eat a fish mithkabob and go brawl with some crabs ill post my results later.

When I did the Kuftal Robber Crabs, my evasion started out at 130-135ish . Heh, it capped before my sword which was only like 10-15 points under cap. I didn't even use any food, just relied on Sleep to save me when things got out of hand.

Farm while you skill.

Goto Davoi and sub /thf

Steal from T~VT mobs and youll get evasion+ like mad.

Plus youll also get Gold Beast Coins!


As far as skilling melee, going to kuftal and fighting crabs at your lvl, is.. alot more trouble then its worth, youll prob get alot of evasion.. but stoneskin/phalanx will take a VERY hard beating.

If i where you, wait till 65ish then goto kuftal and work on stats, WHM and BLM can get Hexa Strike and Spirit Taker from those mobs @67 btw.

Yeah when i wanna raise evasion I grab a EM or higher and just to run to zone with Buffs up (stone, phalanax, etc) and zone refresh rezone back in rebuff do it again. Thats also how I raise Dark is by Bio-pulling EM+'s to zones

Im only really interested in capping evasion at this point, my weapon skill is only about 10 behind and i promised a friend id help with his AF since he got 50 so im sure ill have lots of sword practice during coffer key parties. Didnt get a chance to test out crabs yesterday ended up doing CoP missions, but today im going to try to get it done. :spin:

you can't get hexastrike on the robbers in kuftal. they're just a bit too low. you can however, get hexastrike on the robbers in gustav, though they pack a noticeably bigger punch (obviously, being higher level and all). crabs in kuftal hit me for ~50-60, gustav's for ~80-90.

as for skilling up evasion, i do that by exping with a nin tank :spin:
