Seems like this would be a great weapon for RDMs. How is the latent effect activated? There must be some sort of catch-22 here.

Not too sure, but from what I understand it has something to do with mp. I've heard it either takes away mp or gives mp back per second. I wouldn't mind trying one out but it's a mil on my server, which while not expensive, it does not sell often enough for me to try then sell back the next day :/ If someone figures out how it works, let us know^^WHM 45/BLM 37/RDM 75/WAR 37/NIN 37/THF 64/SMN 25

yea its rather stupid 4mp per tick and the latent effect stops when... you have no more mp i find this only for well wars if they can use it that is other then that... crapPeople look at the world and think why, i look at the world and think why not.

It drains MP which is unfortunate because it makes these weapons next to usless expect for maybe a Rune Staff. If you want a effective and cost effective weapon to tide you over untill a Joyeuse go for a RG Flueret for accuracy, parry, and decent damage output.Relic Stage 5: Excalibur Completed.

Haha 4mp per tick, I think I will pass on trying it out. I personally use a Gold sword right now for higher damage ws. Tried out most of the swords you can get on the auction house, the gold sword seems ok for now. I'm waiting to get my Joyeuse too ; ;WHM 45/BLM 37/RDM 75/WAR 37/NIN 37/THF 64/SMN 25

For damage like farming the Gold Sword will perform very well.Relic Stage 5: Excalibur Completed.

On the other hand, it does less (-25%) on skeltons.
Second, faster weapons can make better use of En- spells. When I solo EM - T mobs with Fish Mithkabobs, average damage of my sword is usually the same or close to the base damage of my weapons. En- spells now do 18 damage maximum and 23 with Fencer Ring (not including the date and weather effect).
In this situation, I found R.G Fleuret does actually better than Gold Sword in the long run. +6 accuracy bonus from the weapon is great because only a few weapons among all offer +5 or more bonus. Weapons with higher DPS is obviously better but if it doesn't hit the target, it's just an electric fan.
However, when I farm EP or weaker mobs, I like Gold Sword much better. In this case, accuracy isn't an issue unless our sword skill is a lot behind the cap. We bring a bunch of attack+ gears and usually our attack is capped. The difference of actual damage is larger than that of the base damage of weapons.
Therefore, I think we shouldn't stick to only one weapon but should prepare the ones work better in each case.
