  • Inspired by a dream--Sleep = RDM HNM win?

By HNM, I mean the "lesser" ones such as Baldurf, Baladrich, and the like.

This may seem weird, but yeah, I did have a dream about soloing Baldurf, and of sleeping him when he 2hred and the like. On this same note, I've seen a BRD who repeatedly slept Roc to piss off some people on a certain server. (in real life )

So, is this possible? As unreasonably selfish as it may seem.... Thanks in advance

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I got a "Flood Gun" abjuration in my dream o_O

hehe, well Roc and Simurgh and be duo'd by a Bard and BLM or RDM. I've seen it done, I was part of a trio, lol. Pissed off so many people. Not sure about the rams. The sleep spell I think is resisted by the birds, however Lullaby sticks.

Ive never heard of a Steelfleece or Bloodtear being soloed..., best Ive heard is Duoed by a RDM/NIN and a NIN/THF. Heres how I heard they did it duo:

*RDM buffs Stoneskin, Phalanax, Blink, Refresh, Protect, Shell, Regen, Enspell, Spikes, Utsusemi, etc....*
      *NIN puts up Utsusemi*
RDM claims <ram> (forget which one, it was the Konschtat ram but I dont remember which ram is which zone)
RDM lays the enfeebling smack down on the Ram.
NIN Trick Attacks on the RDM for a little extra hate.
      RDM keeps his buffs up.
NIN Runs behind <ram> and SA's it (RDM doesnt lose hate, because damage prevention [stoneskin] gains good hate, plus the TA's hate, plus the enfeeblements hate, plus the RDMs melee strikes gain hate).
RDM and NIN continue beating the schnazel-puff out of it with melee strikes and of course the RDM's DoT spell.
Minute later, SA+TA are charged, obviously this being a duo and not a full party, the NIN cant do both at once. NIN
TA's a WS on the RDM. NIN runs around and SA's the Ram with a regular melee for the extra damage SA is worth.

ANd basically the fight repeated like that, just plain melee, DoT, and a TA-WS on RDM and the SA-melee, and of course: THe Rdm keeping his important buffs up.

I remember Deodrant (aka Kristin) soloed it. I don't remember what LV he was.

Then, here's what I (RDM65/DRK32) did some months ago.
        http://www5.sppd.ne.jp/grendal/FF11/solo_blood.wmv

I was just on my way back from Selbina to San D'oria after I finished Rolanberry quests there. While I was running in the middle of La Theine, I found Bloodtear Baldurf by accident. Although I didn't have some of my soloing gears and def+ foods, I decided to engage.

Strictly speaking, this isn't solo because some people watching the battle sometimes gave me Cure II/III although it is unnecessary and something I dislike (I thank them for saving my life though). Anyway, I think RDM65+ can solo it. RDM/NIN should be the best combo.

Petrifying Breath isn't something we, red mages have to worry about since our job traits and spells help to resist or recover quickly. However, "HP Max Down" effect is dangerous as you see the last minutes on the movie although that state doesn't last very long.

Ahaa, that was nothing short of beautiful :')

So I guess the major issues with him are his 2hr (or 1minute in this case x-x) and the HP down effect.... how would a WHM sub with Erase fare, in your opinion? The loss of the potential pool of mana from BLM would be a hit, as well as the loss of the evasion and Utsusemi from NIN, but it seems that even without them you had the upper hand through the entire battle (except for when he brought you down to ~90HP )

After seeing that movie, I'm a bit more tempted to try out things I only dream of, literally :D

Man that video rocks! Only thing the video was missing Apple Pie was your cool music you put in your other videos...lol but that was kickass nonetheless. Drain for 104 though? When you got down to 98 you Drained it for 104 and I was wondering if your Dark Magic skill is low? My Dark magic skill is about 90 (Equivalent to about a level 30 BLM's Dark magic skill cap) and Im getting 60-75 per drain.

Amount "Drained" is how much you recover. I think he recovered to full on that drain, so it only showed how much of it replenished his HP.

It could also be that it was just partially resisted. Mine get resisted a lot.

I think we have no problem with WHM sub. After we're hit by HP Max Down, cast Erase, use Divine Seal, and press CureIV macro. Just be smart so that spell casting won't be interrupted.

By the way, I like to be aggressive when I solo and I often bring attack+ gears. However, for this NM, evasion+ gears should help us a lot.

As for Drain, I always have the skill capped but this doesn't mean I always drain 200+HP. On the one hand, I sometimes (not often) drain 150 - 200HP from T-IT mobs during leveling but on the other hand, I only drain 50 - 70HP from EM or weaker mobs during soloing. To me, both Aspir and Drain aren't something I can fully rely on.

Apple Pie, do you think race is a big factor in soloability? You(Tarutaru) and Deodorant(Mithra) have more MP than the other races, would you say that part of race makes a big difference?

                      I'm afraid it isn't.

For example, many people used to believe and some of them still believe tarutaru is the worst race as for soloability because of the lowest HP, STR, and VIT but that isn't always true in fact.

There are ways to make up for disadvantages between races. We may sometimes have to spend more money than other races do but I'm pretty sure Galka/Elvaan red mages can beat the same NMs as what Hume/Mithra/Taru red mages can.

I agree with Apple Pie ^^

Then again maybe it's my elvaan pride speaking ( hehehe just joking, just joking ^^ )

when it comes down to it, it's all about the player and how he plays the game. There will be a advantage and disadvantage picking any race, any of any other race.

How you play those advantages is alll up to you.

                          That's what I think.

After about level 40 race becomes less and less of a issue. You have access to a lot of stuff to make up for the differences if you are willing to spent the gil.
When RSE2 comes into play post 60 the differences can come close to none.
As long as the player knows the race's strengths and weaknesses the player can then work out how to use the strengths to the best ability.

No Ifs Ands or Buts about it.

I've only played up until 46, but I've noticed where I'm at Hume RDM convert with like a 2:1 ratio (hp/mp) and elvaan are closer to 3:1, and of course I see the higher level Tarutaru where theyre only off by like 5 HP. I'm asking cuz if I start playing this game again i'm leaning towards hume RDM.
