Finally I'm a "real" RDM

I finally got 41 last night. Although it was a bummer that I forgot my refresh scroll in my moghouse >_<. I've been carrying it for like 2 weeks just in case, but I removed it for crafting earlier in the day. Oh well, at least I can use it now.

I guess I'll have to practice all the stuff I've been reading about a good refresh order now. I hope it should help with farming also since I have Phalanx too.

Thanks. I've actually had Phalanx since like lvl 35 since a lot of times I don't have consecutive playtime to pt, so I just cook and stuff for gil.

I've really liked RDM thus far, so I hope I continue to now that I'm in my true role.

Man i quit levelling at 35 just to buy Phalanx, never regretted it a single bit , makes farming easy cons MUCH easier.

welcome to the wondrous world of the refresh whore. remember that refresh lasts 1 hour gametime, so you can time it to where it's being cast directly as it wears off. Apple mentioned this a month or so ago. it does little else but impress people, but that may help your rep for parties.

Well, being a refresh whore is the basics of being a rdm. It is the minimum of what you should do as a RDM in a pt situation and it will be what everyone else in the pt expects you to do. The fun part about RDM however, is all the other extra things you can do in addition to the basics of being a refresh whore.

For instance:

1. If there is no brd in the pt, you can melee, and in a few choice occasions, participate in skillchain. (It's always fun to MB your own skillchain)

2. Once you're past lvl 50, you can sub /brd and use Ballad.

3. You can heal.

I think a RDM is responsible for two things in a Lvl-Up PT situation. One is MP regeneration. The second is being versatile and to round-out the party's deficiencies. If the pt has no BLM, I sub /blm and become the main nuker. If no WHM in party, I sub /whm usually and become main healer. If pt has WHM and BLM already, I sub /brd and concentrate on MP regen. If the party has 4 mages, then I put on melee gear and become the 3rd melee and participate in skillchain. That's what's unique about the RDM job, the ability to do all of those things.

I think you make a good point about BRD sub. After I get WHM capped at 37, I think I'll finish leveling it up, since it's really a nice addition if you have the WHM and BLM spots filled int he PT. Prelude and Ballad are both so valuable.^^
