    WARNING

For those of you who haven't finished M5-2, one of important missions, the content of this thread may reveal something you haven't seen yet and I'm afraid if it diminishes your interest on coming missions. I don't intend to bother you guys, nor do I want to ruin your dream. Therefore, I'd like this thread to be Rated "R6 (Rank6)" basically.

Well, as promised, I soloed M5-2. As a matter of fact, there are already a bunch of red mages at LV60s beating the Shadow Lord alone. I think the lowest record is LV63 (Mithra RDM63/BLM31). It's not something new.

However, almost all of them brought drinks and medicines and use them. I didn't want to do the same thing. As a result, I made up my mind not use them at all. I decided to bring only food. In my opinion, it wasn't as hard as M5-1 but it was tricky. To tell you the truth, I was killed once. This is my second attempt.

I subbed DRK because I wanted Aspir, Drain, and Vorpal Blade. I think any major subs such as /BLM, /NIN, /WAR, and WHM should work. Each sub has its own advantages.

Anyway, it took me 19 minutes and 29 seconds to defeat him. I ate Fish Chiefkabob but the average damage I took was still high, 49.9.

There are two stages of this battle as you see on the movie. His estimated HP is 10,000 and 3,000 respectively. The second stage is much easier for us because he only uses a weak AoE, called "Implosion." Phalanx and Stoneskin helps us a lot. Therefore, if we finish the first stage, it means we win.

The first stage isn't very hard but we have to be very smart. After his HP is down to 50%, he uses AoE called, "Dark Nova" and he has either "No Physical Attack Effect (when his sword shines)" or "No Magical Attack Effect (when his left hand shines)." For example, any physical attacks except for en- spells do 0 damage when he has "No Physical Attack Effect." These effects wear off when he takes certain amount of damage or after five minutes.

This is very tricky. For instance, what should we do when he casts Icespike while he has "No Magical Attack Effect?" Dispel doesn't work. Should we waste five minutes although we only have 30 minutes? In this case, /WHM works perfect.

Other than these special attacks, he uses LV2 Ga spells such as Aeroga II, Firaga, II and Stonega II. Bar- spells work pretty good, however. I forgot to include Barfire in my macro palette though.

Anyway, it was fun. I know a lot of people feel our role in XP PT is boring but I don't think I'm going to quit this job. There are still a lot of enemies waiting for me. A lot of people ironically say, "They want to be heroes (勇者様) or something" but yes, I want to be the hero of fools

No, I don't because I also referred to these techniques developped by some of great red mages. I believe they're loyalty-free

Unfortunately at 75 Shadow lord and the Genkai 2 monsters are rediculously easy to kill. I guess I go back to wyverns >.>

I'm gonna have to skip out on this video so it doesn't ruin all the fun and plotline for me later. Ah well... I can't wait for the day when I can waste the big bad bosses of FFXI singlehandedly. The best part is I spent so much time in the midgame, and I am continuing to farm and earn money, so that when I hit the endgame, I've got the gear, got the guts, and I won't have to hold myself back before rushing crazily into epic battles.

I'm sure it is well done, and thank you for sharing your information and feats with the NA community Apple.

I was actually beggining to feel a bit burned out of my same routine day in day out as a redmage, but after seeing what some of you people have been pushing yourselves to do, Im once again inspired to keep grinding to reach at least 60 then go out and try out a few difficult exploits myself. With that said, thank you.

                        It's a little off topic.

I finished Zilart Mission 06, "Through the Quicksand Caves" today with two (BLM75/WHM37, NIN70/WAR35) of my LS members.

We fought with three Anticans (BLM, PLD, and RNG) at BC but only three people killed them very easily and it only took us 13 minutes and 1 second (Best Time was 4 minuites and 58 seconds).

Although we need a lot of echo drops, I guess RDM74+/NIN37 (Utsusemi is required to avoid Eagle Eye) can solo this mission since Sleep spells work on both BLM and RNG anticans without being resisted at all.

Anyway, it was funny because most of LS members thought we all got killed because the guide suggested "at least a full PT of LV65+." I have no chance to repeat this mission but I think many people will be very surprised if we solo it

Question is, I don't know if you can block the Rng's Eagle Eye with utusemi. I know it has a chance to miss. If you can then, its mostly possible for a rdm to solo.

Yes, we can block it with Utsusemi.

                              Congrats,

Can't wait to see this but I will. I don't want it to spoil the story at all, I've finished 5-1 but that's as far as I've got so far. I'll be watching this as soon as I've done it myself.
