Question about weapons

I'm a level 12 RDM and so far all's I've used are swords. I still do well as a melee fighter, so I haven't really thought about changing to a different weapon. Should I? I know I can't melee for ever so I was wondering what level I should switch to a more mage supporting weapon, and what type of weapon should I use?

Always carry a Sword and Wand with you at all times, at any level ^^

Wands that give +1, +2, +3, etc. to both INT and MND are particularly useful when you are debuffing/enfeebling the monster. Though it may not show it at earlier levels, if you have more +MND gear, your white magic enfeebles (Slow, Paralyze) will have a higher chance of sticking. More +INT gear, your black magic enfeebles (elemental enfeebles, Gravity, Poison) will have a higher chance of sticking.

Swords... I don't really melee in EXP parties but most RDM can do that and still manage to debuff, keep a Refresh order alive, etc. Boosting your Sword skill will be nice because you will have a much easier time soloing (o_o) or farming.

So to sum it up, carry both since you will want to raise your Sword WS up, and Wand for better enfeebles^^
