Equipment Confusion

I'm so lost on what to buy now ; ; I'm not sure wether to buy a Dark Staff , Forest Stone , Wood Gauntlets, or Serkest Ring. I mean most of these equipment cost a whole lot on my server. I belive...

Dark Staff - 400k ( Basically for hte +10 to MP regen)
Astral Shield - 600k ( Convert 30 HP to 30 MP )
Forest Stone - 200k ~ 400k ( Basically for the 50 MP boost, I think 50)
Wood Gauntlets - 200k ~ 400k ( Basically for the 55 MP boost, I think 55)
Serkest Ring - 1 million to 3 million ( Convert 50 HP to 50 MP)

I know this is a LOT of gil to make, but I like to make my characters as strong as possible if I can. So I was wondering what should I buy first? I have 200k as of right now and I can usually get about 40k in 3 hrs. I was wondering if the Serkest Ring could be an optional equipment because ..... well it's just VERY expensive and I kind of feel that my Astral Rings serve my purpose for now.

BTW, please keep in mind I'm a Elvaan ^^ So my MP is very weak. Currently it is at 523 MP. If I get everything on there .... I think my MP will be around 700...well I hope ^^

You want to avoid the dark staff if all you care about is MP...just go with the cheapest upgrade first, and work your way up.

Yep ^^ I know it's going to be INCREDIBLIY tough but I want to be the best I can so I'll take time off to gather the gil for the gear, but I was hoping to exp as well while I farm and since I haven't been getting a lot of invites I figured I could use that time to go get some gil.

The only thing is I'm unsure which of those would increase my potential the greatest? Or should I really start for the cheapest to highest?

Here's the way I look at it (and I'm by no means an expert, or even close) but if you get one item that lets you get another one with less effort, I say do it that way. I wanted to go farming desperately for Dispel, but found that if I were able to get to 34 (Stoneskin and Warp for BLM sub) it would be much easier to farm, and thus I could get money for dispel easier. If that makes any sense, cool, if not... uh... nevermind

I'd go with gloves or stone for the first, and then get whichever one of those two you didn't get as the second item. This'll give you the biggest MP boost with the least amount of money, therefore making all the other pieces easier to get.

Dark Staff. If I had to choose between having to be naked and keeping my staff, or having all my other gear and NOT having it, it'd be a hard choice. Makes every single tick of MP you heal more worthwhile, and makes kneeling to heal more worth your while more often. Think about this - how often are you at max MP in an exp party? Not often. Now, how often do you med MP?

Just my opinion. After Dark Staff, I'd get an Astral Shield, reasoning being that there are good things to wear besides what you listed on glove/waist slots, but a shield is usually pretty eh.

The difference a Dark Staff makes can't be fully explained, you have to try it to understand it. I've let some blms use my dark staff for a few mins (while I hold there more valuable Ice Staffs ) just to see the difference and they are absolutly shocked. Put Dark Staff at the top of your list, you will never regret it.

BLMs and WHMs might tell you Dark Staff is overrated. And maybe it is, for them, with Clear Mind 45 or whatever. For an RDM however, it makes an enormous difference.

I never really cared about the INT + MND equipemnt mainly because I haven't really had a hard time to land my spells. It seems more important to me between refreshing a least 3 characters, and hasting 2 others and enfeebling and MB and a few Cures now and then , so that's why I put MP as such a high priority then INT or MND. Plus, I hear about Maat fight and I was thinking more MP is never a bad thing to fire off a few extra Aero 3

Hm...I think I'll try out Dark Staff. If all else fails at least I can use it on my BLM, SMN, and WHM ^^
