    don't you get those bonuses only if its iceday and watersday (respectively)? i'm curious as to how much conserve mp + 15 makes...that -15% mp on that sucker hurts. anyways, i would think the wizard's earring is better just because it increases the chances of your MB landing for 100% damage. really bites when MBs get resisted...but anyway, if you have no problems landing MBs without resists, by all means go for the morions.

    honestly though, i don't see how just 2 morions and 2 +int rings can make such a huge difference in damage. i partied with another blm once and our MBs differed by about 20-30 points but that was because i had 15 int more than he did. if his +int rings were +4 each, and if he was a taru, then maybe....

Is it correct for me to assume that Wizzard's Earring will be better than Morion Earring for Elemental spells? I will be goint to fight Maat soon and would like to upgrade before the fight.

      As for rings, I like to equip Ice Ring (Elemental Skill +15) and Water Ring (MP Conserve +15) when MBing.
      These earrings are worthless against Maat, so use Morions. SJ is disabled in Genkai 5, and therefore so is your latent effect.

        I really think I f***ed up. Those SMN rings like Ice and Water. I know about MP-15% on their respective days. However, I was under the (wrong?) assumption that +15 Elemental skill and +15 Conserve MP takes effect regardless of the days.

        Someone please confirm. Damn it, I think I might have been using equipment macro in the wrong way for the past 3 levels><;

          From riceburner:
          probably keep your morions and have the earring macro'd for MBs.
          Yeah, the obvious answer of course. Wasn't really thinking when I posted first time asking, hehe. I'm thrilled about yet another possible macro swap. Wheeeeeee.

          since rdms don't nuke outside of battle, the earring usually isn't helpful there...however, the +int from the morions might make a slight difference landing gravity and blind. if there's no blm available and you as a rdm/blm are forced to cast elemental enfeebles, then the earring might be a good idea. oh, and since its rare, you can only have one.
          Knew about it being rare, hence asked if I should replace one Morion. And you're right - I don't really wear the Morions/Morion Tathlum for MB damage, I mostly wear them because Gravity tends to get resisted like a bitch and I want to avoid that as much as I can. Haven't paid attention to if they help my nuke damage, I usually have damage set to screen only (depending on how crowded an area is). Oddly, my elemental debuffs are nearly NEVER resisted, yet Gravity is all the time. Both skills are capped. Makes tons of sense to me. Oh wait, no it doesn't.

          Also, as for dmg on nukes, I think there's a lot more about this on the BLM forum, but +INT doesn't really help your damage a whole lot, except indirectly by assuring you get resisted less and get full dmg more often. I think. Which is really all I'm shooting for, less resists. Not fun to see second tier spells magic bursted for 16 dmg. Occasionally fighting IT+'s and at certain stages of the game when MBs and enfeebles get resisted left and right, I wonder why I should even bother, and get reduced to Refreshbot status. Easy and mindless, but also not that great and something I'd like to avoid as much as possible. A ways from elemental/enfeebles torques but I am looking forward to them. Seems like those and Errant gear are the reward for spending 30+ levels with an entire macro bar dedicated to equipment swapping and a gobbiebag filled one-fourth with rings.

          Edit - also on Bismarck ATM earring looks like it's about 80k. But not much of a history and none for sale, or I'd just pick one up. Eh.

            yeah, you're right...i had a brain fart and misread it as "Would it be worth dropping one or two Morion's for this?"

            Oddly, my elemental debuffs are nearly NEVER resisted
            odd, i find that mine are resisted fairly often. they're almost never fully resisted (complete miss) but half resists (1/2 duration) are not uncommon.

            Also, as for dmg on nukes, I think there's a lot more about this on the BLM forum, but +INT doesn't really help your damage a whole lot, except indirectly by assuring you get resisted less and get full dmg more often. I think. Which is really all I'm shooting for, less resists.
            +int is actually sheer damage, approximately 1-2 points per point of int. there is evidence that shows that int affects resist rates very little (if at all). +elemental skill is what affects resist rates VERY noticeably. pump up elemental skill if you want full damage more often...best way to do that is through AF and an ice staff before you get elemental torque at 65. dunno if you're willing to shell out 300k-600k (depending on server) for that ice staff though.

            I really think I f***ed up. Those SMN rings like Ice and Water. I know about MP-15% on their respective days. However, I was under the (wrong?) assumption that +15 Elemental skill and +15 Conserve MP takes effect regardless of the days.
            i'm pretty sure the +15 elemental skill and +15 conserve mp take effect only on their respective days as well. i can't use them yet, but the ring's description (for ice ring) says, "Def: 2 On Icedays: MP-15% Elemental Magic Skill +15 Lv.65 All Jobs"

            edit: added stuff...

                  Are these the best earrings for Rdm's for general leveling? A friend of mine was asking me this, he's wondering if he should go save up for one, or stick to Morions. He's the kind of guy who doesn't like switching equipments, so he doesn't like the idea of having both a 2nd Morion and the Wizz's Earrings.

                  Thanks.

                    to appliepie or anyone else who might know, i'm curious what the difference between elemental magic skill (wizard earring) and magic attack bonus (moldavite earring) is.

                      Elemental magic skill is decreased chance of resist
                      Attack bonus is increased damage.

                      The +5 magic attack bonus from Morion seemed to increase the damage of my elemental spells by around 7%. More or less boosts the damage of a Hume/Mithra to that of a Tarutaru.

                        Ah, I will check the price on this when I get back tomorrow, though I'm sure it will end up being very high! Maybe I will buy one more Morion's and then save up for this. Thanks for pointing it out!

                        As for Moldavite earring...
                        Those who have it, I'm curious about when you got it, what the PT configuration was, and how many times you killed Mysticmaker before it dropped. I'd really like one, but at lvl50, it seems like a pipe dream to get it before 60. ; ;
                        There will be cake.

                          I got it at I think level 67. I was in a party of 67rdm 67whm 55thf but a redmage should be able to solo it at level 60 if it doesn't link with the other gobs. It would be nice to have a thief above level 45 present for treasure hunt because it is a rare drop.

                          Moldavite is one of those things that are nice to have but not really needed, so I would not worry about getting it until you are higher level.

                            blm 54, thf 60, drg 54 at the time i got it. no real strategies needed, clear out the area, when it spawns, kick it's ass ^_^. took 4 kills before it dropped though, all with a thief present for TH2.

                              Just got 1 of those earrings 2 days ago from BCNM 30. I've been happier then a pig in mud since... Just need to level BLM up.

                                Sorry for the off topic post, but how hard is that fight? What strategy do you recommend? What are the chances of getting good drops?

                                Thx.
