With getting up-to-date spells, and Updated armor (especially now) i never have enough gil to get what i need. Do you have any advice on what to do?

Try mining in the Zerhum Mines in Bastok. Its a great place to mine for low levels, I just made a mule account there so I could have easy access. I usually can double or triple my money there with very little effort and time.

It is standard practice for almost everybody (those without crafting skills) to spend a day or two, and oftentimes longer, doing nothing but farming to get more gil to buy armor/spells/weapons/food/whatever.

At your level I farmed beehive chips and sold them in stacks, plus goblin armor pieces. Beehive chips drops are pretty common, and each stack is about 3k gil on Fairy; goblin armor pieces can vary greatly, but usually at least 300-800 gil per piece.

      Good luck. ^^

        Gil getting more

I will give another option was earning gil from Fishing , or hunting.
Somehow always check the Item in Auction Counter - bid & sell item to earn more gil.Or did quest to earn Gil.

Mining was a good decision but, somehow hard to find the mining point. Once you found the mining point but mostly given a costless item.

Walking arround in the FFXI world- did selbina quest this quest was earn much Gil.

Hunting by using THF to get more Items to sell or Monster drop gil will be higher than other Job being hunting such as Orich in Sandoria which it drop gil per killing.

Fishing can earn more but need a good fishing rod with bait.
5 days only did fishing can earn 100,000 Gil, prefer see what type of fish you get then sell in Auction Counter in good cost. Check the Auction Price history before bid it.

shouldn't have to worry about making money too much at 11...just sell crystals.

Going off the possibly incorrect assumption that since the original poster's char is a Taru, that he's in Windurst... (anyone who IS in Windurst, you'll love to hear about this - on Alexander, Tahrongi gets camped out like crazy, while this area gets left alone)

The best place I've noticed for crystal farming for extended periods of time (serious - you could probably crystal farm all the way out to lv45 without too much trouble, if you brought along a couple of friends, pref. a warrior and either another red mage or a white mage) is Cardian Central, my term for the portion of the Outer Horutoto Ruins under the SW tower in West Sarutabaruta.

This happens to be where Cardians of all levels are - from the lowly Twos on up. I don't recommend soloing this area unless you're willing to stick to stuff that cons as Easy Prey - remember, Cardians link like nuts, and as soon as you toss out one spell or one arrow to try and pull one in, you're liable to bring in a couple of extras that you don't want. (...and for the record, three Fives versus a party of a monk, a red mage, and a thief is somewhat in the Cardians' favor. Died three times trying that today. Now I have to go back to Tahrongi and do some dhalmel soloing to get back up to lv16...)

This also happens to be the fastest way that's readily accessible to lower-level people to farm the more valuable crystals (light crystals seem to be about a 12-15% drop chance, somewhat rarer than the other crystals, and they typically sell for about 2-3x what the other crystals sell for), and for people trying to collect the cards (why? what do you use them for? I'd love to know that), well... this is the only place you can get Fours and higher.

For me. I supply my fellow Alchemists with Beehive Chips and Beehive wax.

I also farm sheep skins (get about 7-8 an hour and sell them for cheap in my bazaar, roughly 75 gil each.)

But I also have a lot of fun farming. I go to Palborough Mines. Run around the 1st floor casting dia and diaga on the Quadavs and linking about 15-20. And watch them all do 0-1 damage to me, while blaze spikes does 7-10 to them.

I can get about 15-20 gil off each of them. It adds up over time, only problem is you have to wait for them to respawn.

You'll eventually find your own way to make money.

Mandragoras can be lucrative targets. Sub Thf5 and you can steal cotton from them. On fairy a stack of cotton is 4k. Plus they usually drop 600-800gil in quest items after whacking away at them for a little while.
                    Mandragora Mad
                    250 yutunga sulfer(rare ex)
                    200 cornette
                    125 4 leaf bud(rare ex)
                    Teacher's Pet
                    250 3leaf bud(rare ex) + bird feather
AH but smaller market than chips
                    4000 12 cotton

Mandragoras are also just really common around Windurst.

Hmm...I sold EVERYTHING that i got from drops to the AH or store (it's sad that people sell stuff in AH at less than the amount they can get at stores...i.e. silence spells) and this pretty much satisfied my hunger for gil 'till lvl 25.

By then I moved my butt to the first floor of p.mine and killed quadavs. They're drops sells for at least 200-900 in either store or AH so abuse that as much as possible

At lvl 30+, head to tahrongi and make money out of air elementals. My favourite spot is the east/south east of the crag where you can kill pygomai for cottons, bees for chips, saplings for seeds, and air elms in the mountain AND in the east side of the crag hall for at least 1k+ each cluster. I think when i hunted there for 3-4 days (5-6 hours each day), I got around 200+k.

At lvl 57+ I usually just hunt for lightning crystals in delkfutt, magic pots, and mimas. Lighnting crystals don't sell much, but they're in abundance in delkfutt that no one even bother touching them (3 spawn locations in one area and no one bothers killing them!). I'm hoping I can get in an HNM LS or do bcnm 60 but eh...

BCNM60 is pretty easy, but the money from it isn't that great. On Odin, spectacles and astral shield are both over a million gil now, but the drops are rather rare. I've done 8 rounds of Orc BCNM (8 wins) and it only dropped once. I think the average drop value on Orc BCNM is around 200k~300k or so, and Quadav BCNM is probably even lower...
