  • Sub whm then blm?

I am currently a 32rdm/16whm. I looked at the forum poll about favorite sub and majority is blm. I am wondering, did I make the wrong choice with whm?

Is there some specific level when it is a better choice to have blm as sub than whm? I know I wouldn't have gotten to my level in the time I have without whm sub because I've had to main heal in some grps (unfortunately).

Should I level my blm and switch? If so, what level is it going to make the biggest difference over having whm sub?

both got different advantage. you can check the stickly thread on the top of the page for more info.

as for me, /whm can help the PT more than /blm normally.

/whm is always good for ~na spells. divine seals also works perfectly with convert.

/blm at low level will only be helpful to yourself with warp at 34/17. frost at 44/22 is one of the most useful spell you can really help the group with. MP conserve at 50/25 is very nice, escape at 58/29 which is the main reason to sub blm.

now it comes down to where you hunt. if you're just killing enemies like beatles, bats, etc that don't hurt your status (paralyse you, poison you etc.) then there's no need to /whm. hunting skelletons for example is good to have /whm for prana and blina.

      Something to add..

I never thought that subbing /whm to a RDM was as useful because of less MP. But after seeing it be done in a party situation I realize that it really is more useful. For instance with convert a /whm can just heal themselves quick, while I would sit there and heal myself constantly. Also the ability to use -na spells was also very useful. I realize that /whm is just as useful as /blm but it depends on your situation.

I really would suggest leveling up both BLM and WHM as subs for your RDM, because both of them can be useful depending on the situation and your party configuration. If your healing is particularly desired, you can just switch to /whm and jump right in. If your party's healing is already taken care of, /blm's nuking and enfeebling capabilities, as well as Escape, are useful. Otherwise, do whatever the heck you want. ^^

By the way, I suggest you read this. It goes into great detail about subbing BLM versus subbing WHM. Should help. ^^

I plan on using all three a redmage with a subjob of whm and blm... but I don't see nothing wrong with being what you got.. you could easily swicthed if a problem arise's.

I keep both WHM and BLM levelled in case I need either, but I mainly use BLM. If for no other reason, Warp is my biggest reason for using BLM sub.

Personally, I found that there's really not much reason to use BLM SJ until level 30 at the very least for Elemental Seal. Before that, the only thing BLM gives you over WHM is Drain at 24 and a little more MP. It really gets a lot more useful at 40 (Conserve MP) and 50 (Aspir) though. If you're fighting monsters with MP, I'd wager that Aspir is more useful than Divine Seal + Cure IV for yourself after Convert.

Before level 40, WHM does make a lot more sense though due to all the -na spells mainly. Curaga is also useful when fighting flies and such. I can't count the number of times I wished I had WHM SJ on because I'm usually on my feet due to having to re-do Refresh cycle and someone asks for Poisona or Blindna. Having it on lets me cure it and not have the WHM stand up to cast.

After level 40/50, it's mostly personal preference/what the PT needs. If I go fight flies, I use WHM. If I fight crabs, I use BLM for example. That's just my opinion though.
