Your equips look pretty solid. If you have a linkshell, or a few buddies, you should start questing for your RSE equipment. It's defence is around the same or a bit lower than the Cent. gear, but the bonuses are great. As a Hume, if you get all 4 RSE pieces, you will have +2 to every stat, +48 MP, +48 HP. It makes a big difference.

        I'm glad I won't have to buy any mp+ stuff...seems like a waste if you're a Taru

I can focus more on +MND and +INT stuff instead. Except for when I want to solo, then it's +HP, +VIT

Mine is similar but you can compare ^^

            Weapon:Centurions Sword/+2int/mnd Wand
Shield: Bastokian Targe (+5 or 6hp)
            Helm:Silver Hairpin
Body: Merc Captians Doublet (looks cooler)
            Hands: Battle Gloves (+3 Eva)
            Legs:Ryl Footman Trousers
            Feet:Aero Boots or whatever (+5eva?)
            Back: Travelers Mantel (+3 eva)
            Waist: Merc Capts Belt (goodness)
Neck: Justice Badge (going for Holy Phial)
Rings: Switch between +2 int and +2 mnd
            Earings: +2 mana

In the end my equipment is evasion focused, but I never have issues with mana or resists even though I am a hume. I also tend to not die often

If you have the money to spare get a Holy Phial. 3def 9mp 3mnd neckpiece usable at level 26, all jobs. I'm level 53 and still use it and plan to keep using it for quite a while.

Well, think of how long it takes LV30 person to make money for a set of Astral Ring. I don't think it's worth doing that. In my opinion, it's useful for white mages casting only cure/regen spells but it's not a must-have item for red mages, nor is it nice-to-have one for Hume, Mithra, and Taru.

Red mages are not main healers unless we want to be one of them but are the specialists of enfeebling. What's most important then? It is always to prevent our spells from being resisted. Therefore, buy INT+ and MND+ gears first. Then DEX+ or Accuracy+ ones second since LV30s still find places and time to melee.

Getting RSEs is a good idea because you'll love them with any mage jobs - useful when we level our mage sub-jobs. I rather buy a set of RSE (30K*4) if I can afford to buy a set of Astral (150K*2).

Back to the main topic, I recommend you buy these,

                Belt: Mrc. Cpt. Belt (DEX+1, VIT+1, AGI+1, INT+1, MND+1, CHR+1)
Ear: A set of Onyx Earring (MP+2 -> Total MP+4)
Ring: A set of Saintly Ring (MND+2 -> Total MND+4)

If you think you're rich, I can show you better ones but you'll never have problem with these gears.

Out of curiosity, what other gear /would/ you recommend for the rich red mage around level 30?

If your fame in San Do is good enough you can make a quest in the basement of the cathedral and get the Friar's Rope : +2 DEF +1 MND +5 MP and +2 vs Darkness and Light belt (Lv14 - All jobs).

In case you're rich taru at LV30, I think this is a dream combo of gears.

                      Weapon: Centurion's Sword (D19, Accuracy+3, Attack+4) and Yew Wand +1 (D8, INT+4, MND+4)
                      Shield: Republic Targe +2 (AR8, HP+8)
Throwing: Morion Tathlum (MP+3, INT+1) - Do not throw it...

                      Head: Silver Hairpin +1 (HP-6, MP+16)
                      Neck: Holy Phial (AR3, MP+9, MND+3)
                      Body: Centurion's Scale Male (AR23, VIT+1)
                      Hands: Wonder Mitts (AR6, HP+12, STR+3)
                      Waist: Mrc. Captain Belt (AR3, DEX+1, VIT+1, AGI+1, INT+1, MND+1, CHR+1)
                      Legs: Centurion's Cuisses (AR16, AGI+2)
                      Boots: Wonder Clomps (AR5, HP+20, STR+2)
Back: Mist Silk Cape (AR3, MND+1, Resist Light+3)
                      Ear: Morion Earring +1 (MP+4, INT+1)
                      Ring: Tranquilty Ring +1 (MND+2, Resist Water+5) and Knowledge Ring +1 (INT+2, Resist Ice+5)

Total cost.... more than 1 million I'm not sure if it's worth getting all of these --- Probably not.

Unless you have more MP than HP, then your convert will be less effective.
