  • Haste

    Hi guys

I have finally gotten to 48. Yay! Haste!

I thought this spell would be very useful but when I went into a party and asked the WHM how we should share the Haste on our meeles, I'm told that Haste is not important and that the increase in speed is minimal.

So, what I'm asking is if this is true. Is haste really that useless? or does the potential of Haste only shine in the higher levels?

Thanks for all your help again.

Haste is very good... if you have 2 attackers, try give them both a haste and see how much faster you can kill a mob.

It wears off a bit fast tho, that's the draw back. I get lazy of tracking haste aftet 15-20 minutes normally, so I just cast it whenever I want to. Mnk and Thf are the main jobs I always keep them haste.

It's weird hearing that from a Whm when haste is like, one of the great job specific spells together with Blm's warp 2... You know, the reason SE doesn't want to raise the cap to 80 is to prevent people using Haste and Warp2 with sub job? They are that good

Zempten, it's good of you to know it decreases recasting time of both magic and ninjyutsu, too.

When our primary tank is NIN, I keep casting it on her/him and they are pleased because they have to wait 30 seconds to recast Utsusemi I and 45 seconds to Utsusemi II without it.

what's the reuse time after haste :O? does the time actually reduces when you point to the magics in your magic list too?

Jei, you may wanna see this.

            http://www5.sppd.ne.jp/grendal/FF11/haste.wmv

From what I found, I was able to recast stoneskin (recasting time: 30 seconds) in 20 seconds. You'll see it in the movie anyway. So, it reduces approximately 33% of recasting time, isn't it?

By the way, this Haste trick only works when you choose your spell from your macro palette. When you select them from the spell list, it doesn't work on the other hand. You still have to wait 30 seconds for stoneskin.

Finally, I always cast it on our tank first after I knew it also reduced recasting time of both ninjyutsu and spells. As we know, paladins often cast Flash spell so that they can keep targeted by the mob. However they have to wait for 45 seconds to recast it. Therefore, Casting Haste on them greatly helps them to get aggroed.

It's taken me a few levels to "get the hang" of when Haste makes sense. I don't use it in every party. When I do, unfortunately I often run into the problem where giving it to 1 or 2 frontliners (which is all I feel is MP-efficient and necessary) ends up causing the others to ask for it as well. Then you have to say no. Only one guy so far has questioned my judgement, but I'm always prepared to say exactly why I don't think it's necessary.

I do like how it speeds up casting, but while leveling I only use it on myself if I get hit with Sticky Thread -- sort of like it's "Slowna". I haven't played with any blink-tanking NINs yet, but thanks for the tip on helping them out Apple Pie.

My haste macro is... /ma haste <st> ... that's all.

I didn't put any /p hasting someone it in because I just press it whenever i want. if it's not ready then it just wont go out hehe

Actually, I think this is a good usage of Haste, too. It doesn't work against group slow effects like Spider Web of spiders but it works on any single slow effects like Sticky Thread.

It simply takes over slow effects and even prevents us from being slowed while we have it on ourselves. Therefore, Haste does better than Erase in this case - Very useful spell against crawlers.

Does Haste reduce the wait time Summoners have after using abilities from their summoned pets?

Like, can they Blinkga and then Hastega 40 seconds later while hasted?

That's weird, i got hit with the Demon's area slow attack...cant remember the name, was during genkai 2 so everything was filtered, but Haste got rid of that slow effect, on me at least.

I may be wrong on this. From what I know so far, Haste doesn't work on Spider's Web and Slowga from Kam'lanaut but I haven't checked other slow effects as a matter of fact.

spider's web is the only slow effect I've seen that can't be removed by haste.
For demon's slow, that one can be over rid by haste. Plus haste will prevent you from being slowed by demons too

haven't had a chance to fight anything with slowga yet.
