Question about refresh and phalanx

I have a question about these 2 . I looked at the price history on them on my server and they are both over 100k , are they a random drop or is it a quest to do them? ( that can be done at the lvl they are used at too...) . I am not even close to being able to use it yet (only lvl 17), but 100k just seems like a ton to me so i guess if buying is my only option i better start savin =P .

Both magics are obtained in BC40. Go solo-leveling and get as many Beastman Seals as possible.

However, if you are around LV40, it isn't hard to get 100K in a week. Go mining!

Finally, you have one more important spell to learn, which is Dispell (LV33). You can get this either in Windurst or Rabao. The price is around 65K - 68K depending on your reputation.

BC stands for Burning Circle and also known as BCNM.

This is a special battle field where you fight with unique monsters for cool items. There are BC40, BC50, BC60, and even higher. You need specific orbs to enter the Burning Circle. In order to get orbs, you have to gather beastman seals and trade it to one NPC (whose name is "Shami") at H-8 of Port Jeuno.

You have to kill all monsters in 30 minutes and your level is limited depending on which BC you choose; LV40 for BC40, LV50 for BC50, and LV60 for BC60 respectively.

You get treasures once you win but the problem is you don't always get Phalanx and Refresh. You may sometimes get only junks...

Get as many Beastman Seals as possible in solo leveling because in PT leveling, it isn't easy to get them unless you are always lucky.

How hard are the 40 BCNM? I heard from a friend who did 3 of them in beta it was very hard. He said you'd be facing 6, 12 or 16 monsters depending on which one you did. He also said the ones he did the monsters were VT, so you need a brd to sleep them and slowly fight through them while keeping them asleep.

Now the problem is, since I'm new since the NA release, I don't know any bards. I doubt there's many English bards out there yet. I also understand you'd have to be really organized to succeed (so a random pickup group might not work out). So now my question is, how hard is the 40 BCNM? A friend of mine told me about the 50 BCNM in Giddeus. I'm not sure if I want to use my 50 seals (I only have little over 50 atm) for a 1/3 shot at some good items, or if I wanna save them for 1 or 2 shots at the 40 BCNM....

I'm leaning towards the 50 BCNM because I can do that by myself, and although I don't think Refresh/Phalanx drop there, whatever does drop (If I get lucky and pick right) I could sell for money for Refresh (Phalanx is 400k on my server, I won't even bother with that one for now).

they are hard. There are some strategy to follow when fighting these BCNM. You'll need an experienced and balanced team to beat them down. Paladin, Bard are a must have for these battles.

Hmm, I'll prolly take a shot at the 50 BCNM then until I'm more experienced and until the people in my LS have their advanced classes up so we can give it a shot.

I haven;t fought the BC40, BUt I heard that you should have.
Paladin to tkae hite
Bard to group sleep
Red mage to sleep the ones that weren't affected
BST to tame one to atack another.
WHM to cure.
Damager(BLM, DRK, SAM ect.)

My question about these battles is would x-potions and hi-ethers be very helpful?

And about BCNM 50.
The one in giddeus is 3 chests, one of them carries a prize. attack one at random, if it doesn't contain an item you have to fight a mimic, and It will only drop after you kill it then.
The one in Palborough is Time Bomb, you have to deal 9999 damage to it in one minute(while it doesn't attack you). In the "/sigh chainspell is not useless" board, somebody posted on how to beat it easily with rdm. Chainspell Fire2, fire2, ect, convert, fire 2, fire 2, ect.

Yea I'm talking about the one in Giddeus. By the time I'm 50, I'm sure I'll have collected another 50 seals to give the bomb a shot (gonna need fire II and convert to stand a chance).

As for the 40 BCNM. I was told you need a VERY balanced group, food, and items (hi-potions etc).

So until I have a regular group going in the LS, I will be trying my luck with solo BCNM's.

You can't solo and beat any BCNMs can you?
I thought they were all supposed to be hard as hell for a even the most prepared parties.

Well, the chest (50 BCNM in Giddeus) is a solo BCNM. That's what I meant by that hehe.

I know this is far down the line for me....but can you do the BC40 at higher levels? Does each party member have to submit the 50 seals?

The 40 BCNM takes 40 seals, and only the person initializing it has to pay 40 seals. I think the 40 BCNM is capped at level 40 (if you are higher level, you temporarely level down to 40).
