  • any effective way of controlling aggro?

Are there any effective ways of controlling aggro as a ranger other than holdng back when you think you need to? I mean I am just learning about how exactly trick attack works (yeah i know i'm a bit slow but I never ptd with a high lvl thf so I never heard about trick ) and I was wondering if there was anything that a ranger could do to control the horrible aggro it draws from things like sidewinder/slug shot. I don't imagine they would allow TA and SA to work with ranged attacks, but god if they would...

if it would, all drks and thfs would lose their jobs.

Plds can be the worst tank ever and we just need to SA TA a sidewinder... instant 800+ damage of hate on tank.

But as for hate control, nothing you can do but pray for a good tank. Turn on defender, cast utsusemi, bind it and run.... whatever you have to do to survive.

As a ranger, i am particulary keen of good and bad paladins. There are about 5 or so plds that i would NEVER party with again just because of how many times I died under their watch... (draw aggro with sharpshoot? COME ON)

heh well I am already formulating a list of people I refuse to PT with since they seem to travel in waves with me to new areas as we progress through lvls. But i guess the utusemi/blink option is about the only way for rng/nin to get themselves out of a jam... you would think that there would be some better way of doing that. Maybe if you sub thf and go with SA and TA with your dagger/axe to transfer some hate off of you but it doesnt seem like it would be very easy to get the tank between you and the mob. Worth a try though i guess/hope

on the contrary, sneak/trick is useless with the abysmal damage you do with your axe/dagger. I'd much rather have berserk or utsusemi than a 24 damage sneak/trick.

There's always the pld's cover, but that's out of your jurisdiction.

THF's are your best friends. Communicate well with the THF. If his Sneak + Trick attack is almost ready, you can go full out and drawing aggro is a good thing.

i wouldn't say that... sometimes my sidewinders last through a SA+TA+DE.

            Thats a bad thing...
