Agree, Darksteel are not cheap to make and find thus they are generally more expensive. Even if you have high level in Gold, blacksmith and woodworking, I high doubt that you can make these cheap enough to consider an effective weapon in exp party. Most of the bolts/arrows that are stronger than Scorpion arrows are from 3x to 10x more expensive than scorpion arrows but none of them doing over 3x more damage (if they were you'd be so dead after Sidewinder/Slug shot)
Ebow is expensive but it's a one time payment so you can use it for a long long time and you can use it in farming too,
