Its pretty annoying to have someone tell me I shouldn't play a job because I could be 'making rangers look bad'. Just one tip for any others in my position, work on your woodworking. It is worthwhile and a good source of income once you get to scorp arrows. I'm just sick of the arrogance.
It's not arrogance, it's paying respect to the job. Heck I'm planning on playing ranger as my main, and I knew that when I first started the game back in Oct. But guess what? My ranger is at level 1 right now. I'm not going to start it until I feel that I have enough of a money making foundation to support it properly.

But the same applies to all other jobs really. If you don't have up to date equipment for your level (or spells for mages), then it just makes you look bad. AND people will make a note of it. Sure you can still get pickup groups here and there, but mostly the high levels, people tend to stick around with people who they have grouped with before and liked, or people that have been recommended by others.

The difference with ranger, is that you're at one supreme end of a spectrum. Where jobs such as Bards can still perform very well with "ok" gear, and they perform marginally better with the best gear available, the difference between an "ok" ranger and an "uber" ranger is quite remarkable.

I expanded my bag to 50 spaces now. To be safe, I now carry a total of 15stacks of scorp arrows.

Lately, I have tried some elemental arrows in exp party. Some people said those are pretty expensive for exping and should only be used in BCNM or whenever you do something very importand.

The damage per hit is not really significant but the additional effects are pretty good when your damage is dramatically reduced due to the defence boost of the crabs. In my server they cost 4x as much as scorpion arrows. I don't want to do crappy dmg and get myself a bad name but I haven't met another ranger who use elemental arrows.

I wonder if you guys use these for exping? Or you just hammer into the silver bullets at lv 50 (which cost 10x as much as scorpion arrows).

Also, at level 51 there is a staff that adds 10 range attack and 10 melee attack. I wonder if it's worth replacing it to your good old (way too old!) knife? Anyone know how to get that staff?

hmm, +10 ranged attack staff? Never heard of it but i have the Franscisa (+7 range attack / accuracy) which can be used at lvl 63.

I don't use elemental arrows in exp parties... the damage is not significantly higher to justify the cost. Plus, it doesn't have the ranged accuracy of a scorpion.

I'm thinking of switching over to demon arrows after I get my eurytos'.... but that won't be for a while.

I tried carrying around elemental arrows for a little while to use for barrage and ws purposes. In general damage was only higher because the arrows themselves are higher damage. Other than the additional effect the only thing I noticed a significant difference on was using Fire Arrows on Bombs. Against Explosures I'd do something like this: 121, 128, 321, 322, 321... It didn't have berserk up and I swapped back to Scorpion Arrows just to check. I guess Bomb-types are really really weak to fire; Lightning and Ice Arrows didn't seem to produce this effect on Crabs though.

Fire Staff/Vulcan's Staff is a woodworking crafted item.

It's +10 Ranged Attack but no ranged accuracy.

why do u need to carry 15stacks? i shoot a little over 1 stack per 1/2 hr and thats shooting every chance i get. With the AF I shoot more as well cuz of the rapid shot boost. but with 15stacks of arrows that would mean a 6-7hr xp session... thats only with no interrupts no breaks, no deaths.. i personally carry about 10stacks, most i ever carry was 12 when i know it was gona be a long time but thats only from static parties.
Because when I play with a good spt, I go through those 15 stacks like water and start in on my Iron .. I usually get a (12) quiver down to 5 or less before we stop. Ive been having to carry around 2 (12) Quivers just in case.

              Yoga I need Scorps Iam out. ; ;

i'll hook you up with scorpions.... i'm going to exp this week so i'll be able to make you a bunch. :D

Tell me how many you need, you wanted 24 stacks but thats 8 full sets of crafting materials.

i got about 5-6 sets in right now but i'm going to use 2-3 myself for exp parties, so let me know when you're at your mog so i can buy and craft them.

oh, as any rangers know... ranged attack is no use if you don't have accuracy... the +10 on the staff is tempting but i'd rather keep the accuracy... I will be able to craft the staff in 10 levels but Nsxtasy is closer to it than I am. ^^

poweryoga, any chance that I might be able to buy some Scorpion Arrows from you as well? I wanted to get rank 5 before I start on my woodworking, so I can buy Arrowwood logs from the port vendors.

You have to use Elemental Arrows at lvl 55+. IF you are a Ranger lvl 60 with Scorpion Arrows you are a JOKE. You should stop playing and farm money. You can carry like 4 stack of scorpion arrows with you just incase you run out but with thsoe 4 stack of scorpion you should also have about 10 stacks of elemental arrows. Demon arrows are not necessary since they are 10k per stack but are also very nice. 60+ Elemental arrows is a MUST.

hmm Elemental arrows are 1/2 the price of Demon arrows anyway. 4k per stack +30delay and 5rng acc less than scorpion.

If I use elemental arrows (-5 rng acc x.x) then I'd be better of with demon arrows >_>

I actually plan down the total cost of blasting elemental arrows, and I found out that I will need to farm at the rate of 20k per hour and 2hrs a day to have enough money to cover the cost in the long run.

yukk... do you even have ANY idea what you're talking about? Elemental arrows have -5 range accuracy over scorpions, AND they do minimum extra damage. (maybe 5-10 extra damage on the RIGHT enemy types) compared to cost AND efficiency, elemental arrows are ONLY good if you don't mind the more frequent misses/500% increase in cost of arrows. You'll be missing much more without that ranged accuracy, and while your attacks will be *slightly* more powerful, it doesn't justify in the end because of the cost-damage ratio. Did i mention your sidewinder accyracy will be crap with elemental arrows?

The only exception is fire arrow to bombs. Ice arrows to crawlers/crabs and lightening arrows do NOT affect the damage to the extreme as you think it would.

so please, know what the hell you're talking about next time before sprouting out things that make you look like a moron, as you have in other ranger threads. Unless you're lvl 60+, don't mouth off because you're already marked on this board by many rangers as a babbling idiot.

Demon arrows are the best post 60... did you even know they exist?
