What to do with Hume 18 Monk lvls...

Hiyo! Currently I play a Hume monk who is nearly lvl 18. I really dig the idea of a RNG and all, so my question is that understanding WAR is the best default subjob, will having those 18 MNK lvls really help me lvl a WAR to 30? Otherwise I really dig the look of a Taru RNG, and stat wise I think they hit more often. So, would it be extremely counter productive to start a new char or should I stick with the Hume as lvling that boring WAR to 30 will go much faster?
I realize that lvling a Taru WAR to 30 will probably take til the X-mas of 2013, but is it worth it?
