Ranger auto attack

So do Ranger's have to put a certain macro in EVERYTIME they want to use a ranged attack...shouldnt it just let you auto attack? Could anyone please clarify. Especially about how this would be handled for the ps2

1. PS2 has a keyboard too.
2. You can always put in macros to shoot arrows.
