I'm getting ffxi whenever it comes out on ps2 and i was wondering if a ranger with a subjob of thief is that bad. On other forums people say that ranger/thief isnt that good compared to ranger/warrior. But i really want to start out as a thief and warrior really doesnt sound fun to me...imo. I was just wondering if Ranger/thief COULD work

I am not a ranger yet but rng/thf is not as good as rng/war or some of the others like sam or nin just due to attack and stats the others add over thf. Thief is a good class to try to make up some money you'll need for ranger eq and arrows though. But Rng/thf could work its just not the best set-up but it could work just be alot tougher then one of the other subs.

It seems to me that there are far more efficient ways in gaining gil than just subbing thf. And then, what's the point of thf sub if you're making your gil elsewhere. The increase in dex and agi nice, but IMO it hardly makes any different throughout the game.

actually the patch will make makin arrows cheaper. So then what do you need thief for? If you ever need money your gonna need to put thief as main and go huntin for gil. The best ranger/ is warrior then when you do another advanced job go ranger/ninja same concept except more powerful

IMO rng/thf is just as good at lower lvls while soloing. The added evade is great for fighting non-worm types. Also even if you dont sud thief ,which is fine by me, you should lvl up thief because the items you need to buy will cost major gil. In my experince being a thief make getting cash fast simple, and in lower lvls have the best equipment will more than make up the damage difference between subbing thief and warrior. Unless you can afford the best stuff with your warrior :p And despite what you may hear RNG/THF is not bad by any means, it may not be better than RNG/WAR but it still rocks. It's all in what you want and how you play.
