Elvaan or Hume Ranger?

Hi, I heard that Elvaans make not so good Rangers, but I was wondering if the difference between races was THAT big. I was going to start out as thf/mk or mnk/thf, then move to rang/thf or nin/thf, but it doesn't matter to me THAT much weither I'm Hume or Elvaan, just a few minor differences.:sweat:

Good ranger vs. bad ranger...
First thing is having the best or nearly best equipment for your level.
Next is having your archery or marksmanship skills leveled up decently.
Next thing is knowing how to play ranger in a party.

Race's weight is meager compared to above prerequisites.

I agree with the order you prioritized the Ranger's effectiveness in a party. However, your statements can be universally applied to every class and player.
I share gigaman's concern. I'd much prefer to be Elvaan as a Ranger but I fear it will weaken my chosen job too much at higher levels. Let me illustrate:

A Ranger at level 70 (no sub job for simplicity, Galkan race not represented.)

Elvaan will hit SLIGHTLY harder than a Hume, however a Hume will hit 14% more shots than an Elvaan.

Mithra -4Str +8Agi

Summary:
Hume - These establish the "average"

Elvaan- This race will hit the hardest, +4Str over Hume and a +8Str over Mithra. They are the least acurate however.

Mithra- Clearly the most accurate race. They have a +8Agi over Hume and an incredible +16Agi over Elvaan.

I believe according to your calculation that

Elvaan +8Str -8Agi
Human 0Str 0Agi
Mithra -4Str +8Agi

Elvan would have +8 str over Human and not +4.

So Elvaan would be powerful but Agility(Accuracy) wise they wouldn't but you can just equip some item to him and that would fix it, but put the same items to a Mithra and that beats Elvaan again. So advantages/Disadvantes. If you want a little bit of both, Human would be your choice.

You can make up the lack of skills with equipment. At first it will be harder for you with an elve but it will pay off with the extra damage.
