  • Ranger, late game god??

hey everyone, i have my copy of FF XI reserved, and have been absorbing information for some time now. i have basically decided what i want to do, but im not sure if its going to suck or not

from what i've read this should be a godly character, that can be ultimately usefull and also able to deal with different situations

i could really use some help in knowing wether this is a good character plan or not, so any help will be greatly appriciated

    the breakdown:

    1. mithra, start as warrior
    2. sub monk or theif at lvl 18
    3. lvl warrior to 30
    4. sub samurai, level warrior to 35
    5. switch samurai to main, and level to 70 (yes i will do this, i plan on playing this like its heroin :spin: )
    6. after lvl 70 SAM, subbing SAM, and switching to main Ranger
    7. leveling ranger etc. etc.

this is my character plan... and i was wondering if it will work. from what i've read it should be good... just wondering some of your guys' input on it

    thanx for any advice/help

ranger can be god if you want to kill fast ^^ levelling group for example the faster the better.

when it comes to *super tought* boss battle that can last a long long time tho rangers are quite useless ' ' because they won't be able to land any hits.
(the orc god for example our main attacking was spirit within and blackmage's magics)

i see, so for the lil buggers that we use to fulfill our desire to level, are no match for a late game ranger. ok, but they suck against bosses, got it. so if i had a high SAM sub that i could switch to main (as stated above) wouldn't it be affective to just change to that when i cam across bosses and the like??

again.. i dont know much about this game so i dont know if there are penalties or anything for changing sub to main etc. (any info on that would be great)

in theory, it would be a good character though right? with the sam/war as a powerfull melee damage dealer, and the ranger as a fast killer, and also high damage dealer?

well thanx for the help yo any more help from anyone would be great

There is no penalty for changing jobs, so yeah, if you had a high-level samurai and a high-level ranger you could make either one your main job at any time just by going to your mog house.

k.. no penalty for changin classes and whatnot, thats nice. does it take a long time to change classes? or like.. is it a walk in walk out kinda thing? can you still hold all your other class's gear on you when you switch classes? um... are there mog houses pretty much everywhere? or will it be hard to get to them?

sorry about all the questions im still learning

well thanx again for any help

you just talk to your mog, choose change job and pick your new job. only take you 2 minutes to zone into your mog house

I like rangers ^ they are excellent to have for any party.
there's only a few tough bosses so far which you won't get to fight everyday anyway
