Well Try it out if you really like it be that sub job.. But Thief's are pracitly the best job for them I mean Ranger has B+ on dagger which thieves use and you got a load amount of gil for you bullets.

Sorry, but this is not true at all. If you ever played Ranger you'd know why. It is not bad, but it is not even close to be the best subjob for ranger.

(WAR, SAM, NIN are all better subjobs) THF job is only used for money-making.

its because of blink ninjatu imo.

rangers get hit a lot due to their high dmg output.

blink ninjatu is the thing that makes ninja to be one of the best tank in some cases(and takes lots of money).

a ranger using blink ninjatu can avoid lots of hits.

and ranger/ninja is really popular on my server lately ^^.

I wouldn't say ninja is the best sub for rangers though cuz I am not a ranger. maybe it depends on situation.. /shrug

Both the dual-wield archer knife and the ninjitsu are good reasons

Hmmm... after reading all of this, I think I'm going to go with SAM/RNG. Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but the TP charge, sidewinder would be great for soloing, and I could still use it on occasion in a party, as a finishing blow or something, so long as I didn't go overboard and raise too much hate.
One thing I'm kind of unclear about however; If you're a RNG, and you have SAM as your sub, can you still equip 2 H Katana and SAM armour? Likewise, if you're a SAM, and you have RNG as your sub, you can still take bows and guns, no?

I'm curious because I still want to be able to do close combat damage, and the meditation bonus from the SAM helmet, but I also want some kind of a ranged weapon I can still manage to hit things with. The agility bonus from the RNG sounds good too, I don't want to be a complete hulking, mass of armour.

A 60/30 in this and you could charge your TP, use sidewinder, wash and repeat. Just curious as to what the pros and cons would be, because this has serious possibilities as far as I can see.

P.S.: If I do this, I'll be sure to have a leveled thief as well.
Uhh..if you use the RNG/SAM combo and do your "5 WS's" make sure you get a Thief in your party as long as a tank...They can then transfer the hate over to the Tank..if the monster isn't dead lol. 5 Sidewinders + ~800-1200 damage from a Thief that's gonna leave a mark.

Yea SAM cant use most guns/crossbows but im pretty sure they can use some bows. why would SAM sub a RNG if u couldnt use bow?

And on the RNG/NIN idea. Yea it be great to be able to to shoot arrows and then duel wield and use blink to avoid attack. But besides a bow, rangers dont have great ATK with other weapons i believe(like other tanks) And the blink nijitsu is very money consuming.

And on a SAM/RNG. U have to understand tho, to get ur TP up wit samurai and do Sidewinder with RNG IS possible...BUT ur going to need ur bow skill to be at 175 to use sidewinder, and having SAM as sub your most likely gon be using Katana more than your bow. Unless you use ur bow all the time as if u were a ranger(which might piss off PT members) its gon take a hell of a long time to get your bow skill up to 175 to use sidewinder.(i'd think so)

Alas, i still love the SAM/RNG combo and am planning to be one in the game.
