Hi there, Im new here, but i thought id drop in. My experience with the jungle was actually fun. I never had trouble with hate as long as i Voked every 30 seconds, then used sheild bash whenever neccesary. Boiled cray you can buy in jueno for a ok amount (as long as you meet the requiremnts for the day). As an Elvaan Pld I didnt really cure 2 much, mostly because i wasnt taking much damage, and toward the end all i needed was a regen, and i was set.

If your having trouble with money try farming, its an easy way to make money, just lvl theif up to 15, go to the highlands and farm behive chips (i think thats what their called), those are easy and sell for a good amount on the AH.

Hell, and the funniest thing that happend towards my end lvls in the jungle was that i started intimidating all the mandies, and gobbies fairly frequently ^^

while in that jungle. Like everyone else said just keep voking and curing. easiest way to keep hate. Always use sword and shield if you going to tank. Shield bash is vital to keeping hate later on. Once you get to 37 holding hate is never a problem. Keep at it man just takes time. Good luck

Post 37 you'll still run into some issues holding hate. Like say when your Black Mage learns his first Ancient Magic spell and decides to burst with it. If you've been slacking on hate up till that point you'll have the fun of going "Provoke!..err, Flash!...err Sentinel...err, Please Mr Mob come play with me again ; ;"

Even then you can still manage things if need be (Cover or even Invincible in the worst case). The big challenge becomes not so much holding hate through a fight but holding hate through a full Chain. It's all well and good to have a vise like grip on the mob through Chain 1 and 2 but if you're completely tapped out by Chain 3 or 4 then the party's xps will be on the slow side. On the other hand, if everything clicks well, Chain 5 and 6 is easily as doable with a Pld as with a Nin.

Learning to pace yourself to burn just enough resources to hold hate well while keeping enough back to go for as long a chain as possible is the real trick. Some of that is under your control, some under your party's and some related to the mobs you fight.

I prefer a WAR/MNK tank in the jungles (if you can find one >.>), but PLD can still do pretty ok. Still, on my PLD I just hit up Altepa most of the time.

All of the advice here is pretty solid, especially re: if the mandy is attacking a melee, don't sweat it. Any melee job can tank in the jungles if necessary.
