  • Can Paladins Use Clubs?

Well, obviously they can. I guess my question is more along the lines of can they use them well. I don't see why they couldn't (unless their club skill is much worse than i'm under the impression it is), but I've never personally seen a paladin with a club.

Anyhow, the reason i ask is because my white mage is hideuously behind in her club skill, and I was thinking I could take a paladin up through lv 32 or so to get it back up towards the cap (as opposed to just skilling up on my own).

Let me know if you think this could work decently or not. To me, it seems like most hammers are usable by paladins, and about as good as/better than the equivalent levels swords. For the early levels at least. So anyhow, let me know.

Paladins have an A- minus skill in clubs if I remember correctly, problem being is the damage clubs do at the comparable levels to swords is way below par and the delay is much higher. In short, paladins can use them but the slow hits and lower damage aren't really conducive to hate generation. I asked a similar question to this recently but after looking at clubs up to 75 we can use I really can't see them as a viable option to sword.

exp pt, club is a no-go for sure (pretty much that clubs are...crappy, like Aelith said. Plus plds can't use hammers.)

SKILLUP however...pld skills up staff and club like a pimp >o<

i'm very jealous (blm has B- staff... :/)

I myself have used titan's cudgel (dmg:23, vit+3) in exp pt before merely to skill it up to 230 for Black Halo and was very successful with it. Moonlight came into good use to give an mp jolt when needed and the ws damage from clubs given my generally poor accuracy as pld tanking was a little higher then with sword since all the 1-hit ws would quite nearly hit all the time and sword ws would miss a lot more often, resulting in "half-hits" or 1 hit out of like 3 or 4.
Pixie mace is about the only club a pld can use in exp pt for the lvl the mace is. It's actually a little better then the swords for that lvl, but that changes after a few more lvls lol. If anything, use pixie mace when you can, even on whm! accu+5 is huge for that lvl, and you will hit quite often with it as nearly nothing will have high evasion anymore while you have it on and skill is capped. I did this while lvling whm and had a bit of fun meleeing when things were running smoothly in exp pt. Was able to stop a few hard enemy ws attacks like jet stream or gobbie bombs by smashing it with Brainshaker lol.

I really want them to give the PLDs some decent clubs, I'm really curious when I hit 67 if I can use Black Halo or not or if I have to wait till 71. (Already unlocked via WHM).

As long as it is capped you can use it in XP. Only on bones though

Seriously why cant PLD's get a sweet Vit+4 Attk+6 type spikey looking club to hack away with? It would make helping random peeps on Paper alot more fun

I leveled/used a club when helping people with paper; something that did holy dmg, but I don't remember the name of it (it might still be in my inv., but i doubt it).

I was thinking, wouldn't kraken club be fun for a paladin? Could have some legitimate use, since it hits so much; it's gotta build some hate (perhaps more than a sword whiffing?), and TP too.

I saw paladins being very successful with the kraken club, only problem it that it cists TOO much lol.

Kraken Club has abysmal base damage though (11) - it's the same as a level 9 Spatha, and 1/4 that of an Espadon+1.

This means weaponskill damage will suffer (unless you're using it to spam Starlight/Moonlight which I see as the only reason to use Club on PLD until we get some decent-powered clubs).

True. But don't forget that the more hits you do, the more times the +enimity (spelling?) you have on will get used. If you are hitting with Kraken, the small damage plus the times you actualy hit in a short time span will create a good amount of hate... which is what a Paladin is all about.

The more Paladins keep the hate, the more damage the other team members can do without risking their lives. I am new to Paladin, and the next statement might be incorrect due to SATA manuvers, but... "You can't have too much hate".
