  • Funny Paladin vs Ninja

So I'm partying in CN the other night, but my party kinda sucks and winds up breaking (The leader of the party was using 2 computers to play 2 characters ). I decided to just put my flag up and see if I could get a replacement spot in another CN party. I sat down to watch another party fight beetles, and man were they having a hell of a time. 2 blm and a drk were too much for their Ninja tank to handle. Sure enough they invite me to join. The party set up was Pld(me) Nin, Drk, Blm, Blm, Whm. Normally I wouldn't want to have both a paladin and a ninja in the same party, but at 3 am you take what you can get.
Before we started fighting, I sent a /tell to the ninja asking how he would like to work the tanking situation. His response was "Just voke off me when I need to recast Utsusemi". Isn't that cute? He thought he was gonna be main tank. The next fight was a serious lesson in hate control for that ninja. I let him tank until Utsusemi ran down, then I voked, threw in a flash and the mob was all mine. He couldn't peel hate off me after that. When the fight was over he left the group, but I made sure there was no bad blood by telling him I've got nothing but respect for Ninja tanks.

PLD vs NIN tank... its always a main subject in xp parties... using NIN as a tank has both good things and bad things, when tanking as a nin u needa make sure your party keeps control of the damage, an overnuking mage will always take hate away from anything. Good thing about these tanks is they dont need refresh, and need very little healing, less downtime. In the other way... PLD is a great tank, keeps well hate and can heal himself... also those abilities like Rampart and the equipment they get is great. But there's a problem... I keep listening that NIN is best tank at high level? Whats this?! Somebody explain  IMO NIN is a job with hidden tactics only very skillful players can manage, other than that you just might as well use it as a sub. My favorite tank of all tanks is WAR/NIN, its just insane... before extra jobs came out, WAR was always the best tank.... but now PLD is here and WAR becomes the forgotten tank.... =/, I tried PLD/WAR and WAR/NIN in xp parties and WAR steals hate most times... so yea we all know its hard to beat a PLD using NIN for tank.. but lets make this up now, NIN as a sub vs PLD tank... o_0 what do you think...

actually... one of my best parties ever had a PLD and a NIN sharing hate.

      in crawlers nest:
i ( the pld) would tank the first 2 mobs. i'd rest while the puller brought in another where the NIN would blinktank. he was VERY good, and allowed the WHM and I to both to heal a substantial amount.

anywya, kill that mob, chain #2, and i'd be able to easily bring us to chain #4 from there, with nearly full hp/mp.

        Two WAR/NINs > PLD or NIN. :p

Great damage, great hatekeeping, and no healing. :spin:

          Try playing in a pt with NIN/WAR NIN/WAR PLD/WAR x.x

That was seriously the most messed up, yet fun party ever. We're were @36-37, I believe, chaining Ants, Dhamels, and spiders in East Altepa. Funniest thing was the japanese members didn't instruct me to do anything at all. So all I would do was enfeeble with Flash and try not to take hate when the ninjas were tanking. Oh, and cover the WAR/RNG because I was bored~

I've got a buddy that plays War/nin but I've yet to see him in action. One of the rumors I've heard about War/nin is that they don't reach peak uberness until level 74 when they get Utsusemi: Ni. Of course having two War/nin in the same group to split tanking duties would be pretty sweet.
Something I saw in the ah the other day pissed me off a little bit. There are +Emnity earings that ninjas can use but paladins can't. So I get to use +agi earings while the ninjas out there can boost their emnity
So when it comes to pld nin and war/nin all have their strong points. It all comes down to the player, and how well they know their job. So let us all be on equal ground... until lvl 74 when War/nin's pwn us all

thanks for the good input everyone

From 24-36 WAR/NINs make the best tanks. From 37 up though, they really fall behind. Paladins get Flash, Ninjas get :NI, we get hit hard and often. Dunno about 74, but shining for one level isn't exactly awesome.
