  • well its Maat time, since the tp nerf what to use?

So i'll be doing maat some time soon, just wondering with the tp nerf, do i use swift blade or vorpal?

i would think swift over vorpal b/c more damage and 1% isnt really gonna matter that much.

    what do u guys think?

I haven't fought him yet obviously, but I'd think with the TP nerf Swift Blade might be better if you can consistantly do more damage with it. I've noticed that Vorpal Blade occasionally does more damage to weaker monsters I have no trouble hitting or scoring critical hits, but Swift Blade does more to decent challenge and up. I'd imagine Maat's defenses are pretty good since he's a PLD when you fight him, so I've been thinking I'd end up using Swift Blade.

This is just based on theory though and not experience versus Maat, so I don't really know. >.<

Just fought Maat yesterday and ended up with a Win. Personally I dont believe it really matters that much if you use Vorpal Blade or Swift Blade. Basically 4 fold attack vs. 3 fold attack. Vorpal Blade did avg. 250ish damage out of 3 times used. I'd say as long as you're prepared with the right items and the correct mind set you shouldn't have any problems.

      Items i brought:
      Hi-Potions x15
      Yagudo Drinks x3
      Icarus Wing
      Vile Elixer
Vile Elixer +1 (Just in case) <----- Wasted mine when I won >.<
Boiled Crab OR Meat Mithkabob (used Boiled Crab)

And YES i used all my Hi-potions, but i was overly Safe when fighting him. Not to mention that Maat didn't use 1 single WS on me, though he did use Invincible. Dont Stress too much, hes cake.

      How it went down:
After trading the Testimony to BC and enter make sure you Protect IV/Shell III, Eat Food then rest. After Healed up, Drank a Yagudo Drink and poped a Icarus Wing and ran in. Remember not to use Vorpal/Swift when he FLASHES you. You'll end up doing about 20-50 dmg if you do. Use Shield Bash when he cast Banish III. Rest is Cake, Use Hi-pots when MP out or cant cast Cure IV and a Vile Elixer when MP is OUT and HP is within 700. Use everything else outta instinct and you should win.

Try not to follow this, but just use it as a general idea how to handle it. Because it never seems to go as planned.

I did my Maat fight a little differently.

Here's a rundown of what I used and the strategy I took for my maat fight.

          Items Brought:

          -4 Yagudo Drinks
          -15 Xpotions
          -5 Hi Potions
          -Eyedrops
          -Vile Elixer
          -Vile Elixer +1
          -Icarus Wing
          -Meat Mithkabob

          Equipment Used:

          -Gluttony Sword
          -Diamond Shield +1
          -Haubergeon
          -PLD AF for head/feet/arms/legs
          -Vigor Rings
          -Behemoth Mantle
          -Life Belt
          -Drone Earrings
          -Rosenbogen

Upon trading the Paladin's Testimony to the circle and entering...

I didn't do the sleep TP strategy as I had originally intended, as I had left my opo-opo crown in my mog house... But nevertheless!

          1)Protect 4
          2)Shell 3
          3)Yagudo Drink
          4)Meat Mithkabob
          5)Rest to full MP

Once my MP had reached full, I went in to engage. Maat is a little bit of a run away from where you enter, so he won't aggro while you are prepping. =) For me, Maat liked to flash a lot (hm, maybe pretty lady he thought he could get some...silly old man), therefore every time he did this I used an eyedrop. Somehow I think he realized he was not getting into bed with me and did not flash past the first half of the fight.

What I like about Maat is, is that he is an old old man, and he tends to hit slowly, so in between I would cure myself with Cure III. I ended up getting off about 3 weapon skills during the course of my fight, and I used Vorpal Blade each time, which seems to do the most amount of damge. At half life, Maat used invincible for me. Since fighting is useless during this time, I mad esure I had refresh on with popping a new yagudo drink, and just spammed xpotions to heal my life to full. I used a vile elixer (which is extremely helpful for classes with MP, since it restores both MP and HP). He got 1 asuran fists off on me, I popped my own invincible and threw my third vorpal blade -- he gave up at that point. I ended with about 980 HP and 50 MP left. Time was 7 minutes 13 seconds (record for PLD on Odin is 6 minutes 16 seconds).

I never had to use my icarus wing, and I had a ton of xpotions left over.

Basically, my advice: Because PLD have innate defense, you need to boost up your attack for this fight and kick the shit out of him. ^^ It will never be one of those RNG fights where you beat him in four shots or anything...(looks over at cloudx). But I hope this could help a little bit. ^^
