Would Mithra make an ok Paladin? Or would I be better with Hume? I am undecided what race to make^^

Mithra will have much higher dex and slightly higher agi than hume.
Hume will have slightly higher vit, str, mnd(i think), and chr.
The dex means you will hit more which means more hate, but the humes higher str means slightly more hate per hit. The slight vit bonus from hume means a tiny less hate lost per time hit and mnd will occasionally add 1 or 2 more to cure amounts. Chr might make your voke slightly stronger (depends on whose opinion you listen to).
Both balance out to be practically equal in hate holding abilities, so choose whichever you would prefer on a non-job basis.

Made it to PLD43 yesterday evening, as a Mithra. So far I have had not a single problem in my Paladin career (apart from getting my AF weapon so far, Polavik is a tough son of a gun), and it is very hard to peel the mob of me (unless you go nuke-happy from the get-go). Sure you get hit a bit harder that say an Elvaan, but you have a larger MP pool, so you can slap out a bit more curative spells to counter that.
Only thing you might want to do is focus on the best VIT+ gear you can find, because that is naturally not that high for us. That's my opinion anyway.
As every Paladin should do, get the best defense gear there is for your level. Makes it easier for you AND your party.
Also, food does a lot (Boiled Crabs and Fish mithkabobs), too bad Paladin food is so expensive (almost 3x as expensive as Meat Mithkabobs on my server).

Agreed on basically all counts.
Mithra PLD has done just fine for me so far, and I am told by higher-level players that it does just fine all the way to the endgame.
I do especially second the idea of reinforcing one's somewhat inferior VIT as much as possible... I will be doing a lot of farming between now and level 36 so that I can invest in Verve Rings (+3 VIT) to replace the Stamina Rings (+2 VIT) I've been wearing since level 14.
Also, use food, starting around level 20 if you possibly can, and I would definitely advise using it by the time you set out for Kazham at level 24-25. The difference it makes in your defense and the damage you take is staggering. I started using fish mithkabobs at level 23, and the first time I used them my only thought was how I wished I'd started using them sooner.Stormwalker
