New Pally Earrings.

Now, this is my first post on the Paladin boards... so be nice.

Here's the scenario:

The PLD in my SetPT is revamping his gear at level 56. So, he decides to buy the Latent Effect: VIT+2 earrings and test them out. However, he thought [ as well as I did ], that the effect would not take place until in yellow HP. But, as we talked about this, our BRD chimed in: "Sometimes latent effect alludes to a specific job, I hear". As usual, we ignored the little pizza-headed footstool, but it seemed he was right~

The Pally equips the earring, and VOILA! his VIT bumps up by two points. Can anyone on this board explain to me the catch? Or verify this?

Note: He was at 95% HP, sitting in Jeuno.

Has no one experimented with these yet? If no one else with more money to spend does any experimentation, then I guess I'll have to spend 50K on the earring instead of cooking. Oh well.
