Well, say i'm going to level my WAR to 30 and get PLD. well, while i'm leveling WAR, should i level my sword skill, or should i just continue what i'm using now (G Axe)?

Level your 1h axe and g axe. You don't have to worry about your sword and shield because they will cap themselves nicely once you start using them after switching to pld.

War definatly do better with axes but I took the path of the sword from the start, mainly becuase I knew I would be becoming a PLD from the start, so I got used to using a sword in combat and that experience helped me get through low PLD levels easily. Also I didnt have to buy any new swords from 1 - 30 because I saved all of my swords I had used as a WAR. When it comes down to it, its really your decision.

It's really only your decision because low-level parties don't know any better. I grind my teeth menacingly at low-level WARs using sword and shield these days. I make it my task to reeducate them. Look, even if you want to be a PLD from the start you can level Sword up to the equivalent of lv15-20 skill at 30, and that's the level where you start grouping on things that can cap you out anyway. It's seriously no big deal. But it is annoying.
