  • My fight with Maat, complete log.

I fought Maat yesterday for the first time and was fortunate enough to come out with the win. I wanted to post this here to share with the rest of the Paladin community exactly what Maat did to me during the fight.

In preperation I waited until I had enough money for Gobbie Bag 3 and 4, purchased Protect 4 (Lv70), Icarus Wing(didn't use, I forgot), 4 Yagudo Drinks(only used 2), 24 Hi-Potions(I used I think 10-12), Fish Kabob, Vile Elixir, Vile Elixir+1. Also it's extremely important to macro your potions because you can spam Hi-Potions and it's very helpful. If you don't know how to macro your items, it is {/item "Hi-Potion" <me>} without the {} of course.

It won't let me attach a picture this large so I'll host it on my webserver. Here is the complete log:

Special thanks goes to Daigoro's post I happened across in a search, TheBruce for questions ingame, and Dioz for questions ingame.

    Protect 4 : 70k Gil
    Icarus Wing : 6k Gil
    24 Hi-Potions: 1600 Gil Each
    Vile Elixir : 30k Gil
    Vile Elixir +1 : 50k Gil
    4 Yagudo Drinks : 1k Gil Each
Victory over Maat and the huge burden off your shoulders? : Priceless

Truly oustanding Eli. Wow Matt readied Asuran Fists twice towards the end, that's must be stressing for you Eli. But you came up on top. That's good, about how much HP did he have around? I lost count after 1000 HP.

Wtg man. Such a rush when you fight him. Just you and him, heh. Its interesting because most of this game is dependant on group skill, so when the rare time comes that you have only yourself to depend on, things get much more stressful.

Omg, talk about unfair. He did 4 WS's in a row and got off a skillchain? 3 aurasan fists in a row jeez... You're lucky you had your 2 hour up or that would've killed anyone.

That guy also hits like a truck, I was kinda hoping he would do less damage since we have a lot of defense, but guess not.

If I might ask though, why did you choose to use Vorpal blade? I've heard that swift blade is suppose to be a lot better then vorpal.
If you define cowardice as running away at the first sign of danger, screaming and tripping and begging for the enemy no not see you. Then yes, Mr. Braveman, I guess I'm a coward

"Well I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus doing something incredabily stupid, and... I decided to go ahead anyway."

Wow, that's very cool. Makes me want to be a Paladin. (My Race/Job flip flops every day in my head waiting for PS2 release.)

Do all jobs have a battle like this?

All jobs have to do this at level 70, unless you already did it with another job. Example, I killed him as PLD so I don't have to ever fight him again. And you're all right, I was very lucky with my 2hr at the end. He did a Maat Bash before he started that crap too, he could have just as easily ruined my day.

If you do a search on Maat Fight I think under all forums there should be a thread with a large amount of posts under it. A lot of people were talking about their fights in it.

                      Subjob restriction? What's that?

Does that mean he totally killed your subjob? And you have to fight him without subjob abilities?

                        Yup.

No defender/berserk/double attack and around 200 less hp. Its fun.

One more thing, before you go in, make sure you're mentally prepared for a hard fight and have a clear mind. I went in thinking of a lot of other things and messed up really bad. Just focus on the fight, everything else can wait. Calm yourself before the battle (very important, I was shaking when I did mine and missed about 3 cures which led to my untimely demise). Your ls might be breaking up and your best friend quitting, but if you fight with anything else other than the desire to win on your mind, your chances of success will be reduced quite a bit. It's Maat or nothing. x.x

yikes 1781 hp that you have to solo.

And all those potions cost a lot too.

I wonder if you can fight him twice.

My turn to show off my not-so-leet fight log. Maat defeated with a score at 1-2, 8 minutes 4 seconds.

You do not have to kill him to win. You just have to get him to a low enough HP before he gives up and you win. That said, my 2nd time fighting him I got spammed repeatedly with 9 Asuran Fists (6 were covered by Invincible), ate 3, and died a bloody death. I asked around and Thebruce said he thought Maat would start spamming ws's until either you or him dies, at a certain hp, point being I had to finish him off as soon as possible.

Then I tried this other method which some people in my linkshell suggested. Opo-opo necklace (gain TP while asleep) used with Sleeping Potions, and Meat Mithkabobs instead of Fish to get more damage in. Before going to hit him I used 4 sleeping potions and equipped the necklace, got my TP to 100% (drank melon juice to mp regen while sleeping) and did a Vorpal on him as soon as I could. Then Icarus Wing and second WS. The 3rd followed quickly because I got some TP back from the 2nd one. After that it was hit > use hi-potion > hit > use hi-potion > hit ... with some curing in between and a vile elixir somewhere along the line.

I didn't get any Asurans this round, only a weak Spinning Attack. At about 15% hp he gave up and sent me out of the BC. All job abilities were untouched except a Shield Bash to stop a banish III (didn't have to use invincible).

I had some chat filters on so it doesn't say when Maat used his invincible, but it's the portion where I kept spamming hi-potions and I got an attack in for 0 damage.
