The other day I was leveling my WHM in Valkurm, and someone left our party leaving us with WHM BLM WAR WAR THF (having trouble keeping up with heals because we were fighting mostly goblins). I said we should invite a mage, but the other members wanted to invite a PLD because they can tank and heal.
So I invite a PLD12/WAR6 (Hume) from La Theine, and when he comes in-area, I wonder if there is some sort of bug when I see his hp/mp... he has 6 mp and the bar is all the way full.
Finally he reaches the party (at least he has full scale) and I check him, wanting to see why he has no MP. He is wearing 2x Physical Earring (Converts 25 MP to HP).
Was this PLD crazy, or is there something I don't understand? With 50 more MP he could have healed himself for at least 100 more HP, and helped maintain hate while he did it. And that's not even counting the ability to help the main healer with between-battle heals and cut down on downtime.
Instead, I'm practically the only healer (the BLM has WHM sub, but with such low healing skill can practically only heal herself and *maybe* one other person between battles - and has to nuke a lot because we have three tanks and a sub-15 THF, plus taking a share of enfeebles), having to heal the PLD and all the other melee between battles before I sit.
I admit that we didn't have enough mages (and the next time I'm leader, if we need a mage, I'm inviting one - two WAR is enough tanks). But still, it seems that this PLD wasn't contributing what he could have been. I'm not a PLD myself, though, which is why I'm asking here. Do you really think it's a good idea for a PLD to wear MP->HP converting equipment that converts his entire MP pool?
