L36-38 Armor

I'm looking at the AH planning out how much money I need and what upgrades I'm going to look at next.

Silver/Iron/Cuir equipment are all around the same DEF, and they are all 1 level away from each other. Looking at the AH, Cuir was absolutely a steal at that price, but at level 38.
As a PLD, will I need to upgrade to Silver/Iron ASAP, or can I hold off until the cheaper Cuir which is just as good?

All i know is that my next planned upgrades total 40k... and I need to start farming soon.

I stuck with Centurion from lvl 30, all the way up to 40 where I switched to plate armour. I know it wasn't really 'correct' because I didn't have the most updated equipment for my level back then, but I lived. :p

Im even more Ghetto...sticking with Brass till 40. The total difference in DEF between Brass (*total=60) and Cent(*total=66) is a whopping 6 Def, granted i don't get +1 Vit, +4 Agi, +2 Dex total bonuses the Cent gives, but with +1Dex rings and other eqiup, the difference isn't that HUGE. At 40 im going Plate (total=91, i think, please correct if wrong), which will improve my Def by 31 or so. In the meantime I pop Crayfish/Crab (whatever i have avaliable at the time) and ProtII when needed if it falls in battle. In all the groups (so far 30-38) only 2 ppl complained that my eq "suxxored", and i agree it's not the absolute best (I do add Brass Scale EQ in my comments along with my Food, Spells, and some assorted notes). Anyone that comments on this, i kindly offer to leave the group, or stay till they/we find someone better, they're choice, while I search in between fights and such (for Pals or Wars). I've got no problem with them finding someone better or more suited to their needs. With my gear, food, and spells, my def is hovering around 210-212 or so, not sure if that horrible or decently close to "on par", but if compared to the Cent i see other Pal's wearing at my lvl, it's not that far off if we're eating the same foods. If i can find a couple pieces between 38-40 cheap enough, i may swap out a piece or two to make those 2 lvls easier but, meh.

*note: by they "total=" above, im talking Body, Feet, Hands, Head, Legs only.

yeah i went from 30 (centurion plus san d'oria CP) straight to 40 (san CP and IM).

i actually wouldnt suggest IM pieces except for maybe the hat. go for RSE hands and boots, with san CP chest and legs. i think the difference in MP will make a considerable difference in you tanking ability. you lose out on a def and some ranged accuracy, but 40 mana is always welcome in my pool.

i'd suggest you just save your cash and ride out that centurions as long as possible.

level 50 is going to break my bank. save as much as you can.

s'long as the majority of your armor isn't 10 levels out of date....there shouldn't really be any difficulties

cheaper and a dark shade for the evil paladins :D...until AF2 boots

at level 50 i should have enough money for full mythril and 2 phalanx rings (i have 1 now, buying one soon).

i did use cent up until 40, working on my plate. i don't understand why it's so much cheaper than centurion, though. i think i'm making money.

gonna take some time out to do rank 4/rank 5, and buy the helmet off of CP.

I actually appreciate the fact that AF can't be bought. ^^ No need to spend more money lol.. from 60 your main armour is sort of free :D Come to think of it coffer hunting isn't that bad.... someone shoot me. x.x

The only downside to mythril equip is that it looks really odd with partial AF. At least IM is sort of whitish and blends in somewhat... Also the mythril bp is one less def and doesn't have vit+1 compared to IM bp.

Just because I'm bored... this is what I used so far:

1: the ugly level 1 bronze stuff.
10: bronze scale mail
17: lizard armour
24: chainmail
30: centurion
40: plate
50: mythril head, legs, hands, IM bp
(soon to be) 60: AF

After 30 most NA plds on my server seem to use what I did, so yeah...

I went Cent. with RS Gloves, Helm, and Boots til 40 then Ryl Squire's chainmail and breechese. plus the three IM stuff like helm, gloves, and boots.

Never got to 50 though. If I did I'd have looked a lot like the Jeuno NPCs walking around with their IM Cuisses and Curiass and Royal Knight's Bascinet,Mufflers,Sollerets.

BTW this was beta. I've since slowed my pace compared to beta.

Well halfway to 33 I finally get a full set of Centurion armor hehe, minus the sword (Strider). So I'll pick up some accessories, then then I'm set until 40.
