Is it better to start as a monk or warrior if i wanna be a pally later on?? I don't really care about leveling up warrior so quick, that'll come.. im just thinkin that leveling up some of the monk healing and such might be nice so my pally's heal does more later on?

I'm no expert -- hell, I haven't even played that long, but from what I've absorbed, it seems that Warrior is one of the best Sub Classes for Melee jobs, their "Provoke" skill proves useful for the Paladin.
Paladin/Warrior is the most common Combination for Paladin, because it's simply a good combination. So, I'd say you'd be better off starting as a Warrior. But they're (Warriors) boring as hell, and I'm not sure if it's just the fact that I'm an Elvaan, but the lack of accuracy SUCKS, I miss damn near 5 times in every battle.
I guess you can choose what you want, but most people start out as Warrior and then Sub it for Paladin.
I know this post made almost no sense and is probably not helpful... I suck.
Just go read some other threads, I'm sure there's tons of threads about this same subject.

How does mnk contribute to pld healing abilities?
The reason you hear people lvlling mnk on the road to pld is because many warriors sub mnk before lvl 30. Mnk sub for war is one of the best because you get higher hp and vit, as well as counter and boost.
A pld subs war for partying, very little exceptions. And if you think you're going to get war to 30 without a sub, think again because no one will want you in their party for very long if they know what's good for them. A war with no sub is much less useful than a war/mnk.
You can go this route:
1. Start as mnk.
2. Lvl mnk to 18, do subjob quest.
3. Sub mnk to war, so you'll have war1/mnk1
4. Lvl war to 30, so you'll have war30/mnk15
5. Do the pld quest and get pld1/war1 and level that all the way.

Though this is one way to do it, there is a quicker way, if you're looking to just get to PLD asap.
1. Start as War.
2. Level War to 18, do subjob quest.
3. Sub mnk to war, so you'll have War1/Mnk1.
4. Level Monk to 10, get Boost and Counter.
5. Go back to War, level to 30, get PLD, and level up PLD/War to max.
*shrug* It's not much difference but it does save you the few days of getting from 10-18 as Monk, because honestly in your 20s as a war the only thing you're missing as an /18Mnk compared to a /10Mnk is the few points of HP / stats that you get from the subjob, which isn't that much. As long as you have Counter and the extra hp from 10 Monk, you've paid your dues, at least in my experience

You don't get any extra HP from 10 MNK, unless you just mean the usual extra HP you get from your subjob (which, even with MNK, ain't a lot).
HP Boost I is 15 for MNK, meaning a WAR/MNK wouldn't get it til 30, meaning you really could stop at 10 with MNK. Of course, be prepared to get browbeaten over not having a fully-leveled sub, but hey, you're trying to do this the fast way, not the best way.
Retired for good this time; been a fun ride everybody.

I suggest this:
Start as a monk, lvl to 15
switch to war, lvl to 30 (while geting subjob at lvl 18)
Then do paladin quest with your lvl 30 war/15 mnk
This way, your subjob is set til 30 as a war
But this is just an opinion from someone who always likes to have his subjob lvl'd max/main lvl

Not having a WAR sub as a PAL is like WHM without any cures. Paladin's main job is to keep the hits on them and away from the nukers and healers. Only a WAR has Provoke and a Paladin doesn't hit hard enough to keep the hate on them from mobs. WAR at lvl 25 gets Defender. Combine that with PAL's Sentinel, your damage taken is reduced to half. If you want to be the best Paladin, you better do what's best for yourself and others. You'll never get into a PT without a WAR sub. But if you want to solo for gil farming or NM hunting, choose whatever sub is appropriate for that situation. Paladins make great NM hunters.
The road to become a great Paladin shouldn't be taken so quickly. You'll need to spend the time to gil farm or make money in other ways to get the best gear for your lvl and job. I've seen way too many ppl powerlvling and not taking the time to get the gear for their lvl. If you're going to be a tank, don't be wearing armor that is 10 lvl below you. I've seen lvl 24 tanks wear lvl 10 gear. Why???
One thing I'll say about starting out as MNK. You'll lvl up to 18 in one day if you knew what you were doing. MNKs are overpowered
Also a WAR can use almost every Grapple weapon. So when you get to lvl 18 as a MNK, and get your sub job quest done, lvl up your WAR using Grapple weapons up to 18. Then change to 1 handed sword and lvl up your 1 handed sword skill with low lvl mobs. This will also help you get some gils and get used to being a WAR before heading out to Qufim to lvl. You'll also want to work on lvling up your 2 hand sword. Mainly for soloing NMs. Also there are renkeis that will need a 2 handed sword skill to pull off.
A WAR/MNK combo is pretty good if you're the main tank in every PT. But a WAR is very flexible in it's role. If you're not the main tank, but a major hitter, use a combo of WAR/THF. It's true that a WAR has crappy accuracy on IT mobs, so using a THF helps with making contact. It also depends on what weapon you plan on using. If you're the tank, use 1hs and a shield. If a hitter, use 2hs or 2 handed axe. Stay away from 1 handed axe, it's nerfed beyond belief. You would think it would be at least more accurate, but isn't. Slower than 1hs, and only about 1% stronger.
Getting the Paladin quest done is a 3 parter. The last 2 will require a WHM to sneak/invis you to get to the areas needed. So be a good tank with the PTs you're in, and get to know the WHMs and their trust of you. You'll need their help. If not, you can always lvl your WHM to 25, and do almost every quest there is that doesn't require you having to fight a mob. WHMs are spoiled >,,<
Make sure to save all your WAR gear for your Paladin. If you got all your WAR gear up to lvl 30, you'll be set for awhile and save your gils for spells and gear.
So....
1.Start out as MNK to lvl 18
2.Get your sub quest done
3.lvl up your WAR to 18 using Grapple weapon
4.lvl up your weapons skills, save up some gils, and practice being a good tank
5.Do several Quests in Sand doria so you can do the Paladin quest
6.Spend some time getting the best gear for your WAR, PALs can wear almost all WAR armor, so no major loss in gils since you'll be using them again
7.Get a WHM to help you do your Paladin quests
Good luck. Just don't think you can do this all in a few days. You'll get burnt out of this real fast if you tried.WAR 75/THF 37/NIN 38/RNG 49
