Best PLD weapon?

Right now my sword skill is around 55. I was planning on making a Pal/war. I was wondering that PLD weapon would be the best.

1hand Sword and Shield combo seems to be the most popular for Paladins and its what I use. You can probably build 2hand sword up too since Paladins get some good ones. Its not too hard to keep two types of weapons maxed.

As a Paladin you'll never need weapons like Axe or Scythe, but it doesn't mean you can't use those weapons to level up Warrior. As a Warrior use what you like, you'll have plenty of time to level up swords when playing a Paladin.

Considering how hard it is to level up Shield and Parry, I'd recommend sticking with Sword and Shield for as long as you can stomach it. You won't do uber damage, but every time your shield skill goes up by .3, you'll feel a little glowing inside that means you're gonna be that much better of a tank.

I just figured out that my sword skill was 65. and after a long grind session i got to the skill up to 72. And my shield is up to about 40 and my parry is about 40 also. So im prob gonna keep my sword and shield

i heard someone saying use the club. the reason being the upper level weapon skill for club restores mp for the party. since its not your job to damage anyway, this shouldnt matter. you could still use a shield too. this is good if you have a party of mages - whm, blm and rdm.

You COULD use a great sword if you really feel lame with a sword and shield but consider two things:

1. You STILL won't do lot's of damage

2. There are some pretty nasty sword and shield combo's out there..

the best answer to this question is to simply have both

its not hard at all to have skills in two different weapons

there are some amazing PLD only great swords that do some serious damage

however as the main tank your shield skill, your shield bash skill, and the defense boost will be more than welcome in XP groups.

ultimately its your choice, i say have both and go with whatever hits your fancy at the moment.
