  • Slump in Qufim

My Paladin has hit a slump. At 22 in qufim, i feel like the LAST thing the world needs is another guy to take hits. With 50% of the population there warriors, i might get invites (for being a better thank then them), but my groups are ALWAYS lacking good damage, this to the extent that i am considering starting over as a DRK. (25 will make this even worse because with defender, warriors will be better tanks by FAR then me).

I'm sick of doing 10 damage max to mobs that i'm fighting, when no-one else is doing any better (cept blm's)

Do things get better after 30? is it worth holding out?

Around lvl 35 and up you can be the only tank. Meaning you dont need another voker in your pt. You can basically keep the mob on you the whole time.

Well you could always act as a backup voker or a cheap substitution for a white mage... Thats what happened when there was a paladin in my party a couple days ago... But ya it is completely rediculous that almost everyone is warrior... WE NEED SOME DIVERSITY PEOPLE!!!

I'm also level 22 at the moment and I can feel your frustration ProFoolie. I prefer to make my own groups recruiting as much damage as possible. I snag all the blackmages I can then fill in the other spots with thieves, monks, drk, drg, etc. When I have a good healer, like Nylia, backing me up I'm not afraid to be the only tank even at level 22. When I do group with warriors I let them berserk as much as they want to help with damage.

Oh man! Just yesterday, I had the same problem. It's really heartening to see a post like this.

I went to Qufim at 20, which was no problem when I was a WHM. (My WAR is only level 20, so I've never been to Qufim with him.) First off, it was damn tough finding a group. In Valkurm, I never had any problems with party invites, but in Qufim, I sat for a good 10 or so minutes, and finally (grudgingly) secured a place in a party by asking the leader. She said they could use a backup healer, but they were all about three levels higher than me so I wouldn't be a particularly good tank. As long as there was XP, though, I didn't really mind.

I was about 400 away from 21 when they invited another WAR into the group, filling it. It was now, essentially, 5 'voker types and a RDM. Bad news no matter how you slice it, but even worse, the last tank was a member of the LS of the leader and her crony. After 200 more XP, they saw a BLM was seeking and unceremoniously booted me from the pary for being too low.

The REALLY galling part is that the BLM then told them they had a group, and they discovered without my cure II's every battle they weren't doing nearly so hot, so they invited me back. I got to 21 after all (yay Beetle Armor), and promptly as I hit it they kicked me out and invited a BLM/WHM after all.

It was incredible, and it was sad. I've never had a worse group in all my time playing this game -- it really ruined the day for me. Anyway, so, yah, I've been having a terrible time of it in Qufim too. I dunno what it is, and I dunno how to fix it. All I know is that Qufim is overhunted (REALLY overhunted), and there are tons and tons of WARs there.

I'm a different kind of person. If I got 'booted' from a group I'd tell them to go to hell if they tried to reinvite me. If that meant I went without a group, so be it.

Well, ordinarily I'd agree, but I was so close to getting Beetle, and there were no other groups looking...

It was just a bad situation, I suppose.

                >.< ow u waited ten minutes?

that outtakes the normal 2-3 hours i have to wait to get a party...

what i want to say, waiting 10 minutes for a party is realy fast!

Ugg, the first 7 hours I played yesterday were torture with one nightmare group after another. I died 5 times and in that time only managed to make about 2500 exp. Then, we got a nice group together and made 3000 exp in a little under an hour and a half. It was like night and day. Earlier in the day I thought it might be me that was wrong and why we were doing so poorly--it wasn't, it was the lousy groups.
