Hi , im currently a Whm20/rdm18 , but I am starting to get kind of bored with a whm as I kind of suspected I would . Anyhow , I was thinking about paladin as a class . My question is , how hard is it to get into groups as them? im never lfg more than 5 mins with my whm , and I know melee have harder times getting groups , but is it different with a pally? . If someone could lemme know or give me the usual time they wait on groups that would be great ( for pickup type groups , I group with LS members when I can but cant always get groups with them... ) . thanks .

Well, I'm only level 19 as a Paladin now but I've never spent more than 10 minutes looking for a group so far. At about the 10 minute mark last night I started to get worried, but then I got invitations to 2 different groups at the same time and that made me feel better. Umm, I do get random tells asking me to join groups when I am already in a group, but nowhere near as often as a whitemage does. Nylia even in BLM form still gets more random requests for groups than I do.
So to answer your question. Is it easier to find a group than a warrior? Most definately. Is it easier to find a group than a Whitemage. No, not even close. I think I've been lucky so far actually.

Seeing how many people are becoming PLD after 30 on the server I play, Im thinking that it will start to get harder for PLD to get into parties now. Theres just so many... and there are other jobs that can tank so if they already have a WAR, NIN in the PT, chances are that a mage or damage dealer will have more chances to join. Also, if theres already a tank in the group, they will probably take a Mage or damage dealer instead of inviting you and god knows how many Warrior are in this game, I have never ever been in a group where there was not atleast 2 Warrior...
But you should go for what you want to be. If you really want to be a Paladin, even the challenges on the road shouldn't stop you from what you want to play as.BRD 75 / NIN 66 / WHM 37 / WAR 30 / RDM 23 / BST 20

It is definitely MUCH easier to get into pts as a pld than as a war. Of course I've only been one for 29 levels and haven't experienced the job at a higher level, so I can't comment, but from 1-29 it felt really easy to get into pts. Sometimes I get up to 3 tells at the same time.
However, it depends on the pld population on your server. (There seem to be a lot more drgs and sams on midgard than plds, unless I'm blind) If there are lot then you'll naturally be less in demand. Even so, there may be many paladins out there but not all know what they're supposed to do (I still see many pts with a pally in it that has the monster bouncing around not just for a portion of the fight, but throughout the entire fight). So even if there are many plds, you can still get by if you make sure people KNOW that you know your stuff.
I'm also thinking that if you want to go pld you will need to level your warrior all over again from lvl 1 (assuming you didn't touch war at all) because the 'default' subjob class for pld is war.

I have a core group of people I level with but that doesn't mean I don't get invites. When I'm walking around Jeuno I get a lot of invites especially from JPN players, since I play at odd hours anyways. As a PLD I don't think you'll ever be hard pressed for groups.

ah the good ol' days of Beta.
As a warrior I could spam qufim for hours until I get a party.
As a paladin I just had to shout once and there'd be somebody who'd open up.
and When I reahced level 40, people in Crawler's nest were like "We need a tank wanna join?" And I was all the way in San d'Oria too.Pure genius is the ability to convert thoughts to actions.
