Paladin with a 2h sword

I know that Paladins can use two handed swords, but I was wondering if it's possible to be a relatively good tank and at the same time be able to dish out a serviceable amount of damage via greatsword. Let me know what you all think.

You are better off using a one handed sword and a shield with PAL job.

I need an advice.. Would it be a good idea to use a 2h sword instead of a 1h and a shield? I know shield bash works but not all the time (and even if they work the enemy would be loose again after how many seconds) and 1h sword damage of PLDs really sux.. especially with yokodama going to be weakened, keeping the hate on you would really be a problem especially in the higher levels being partied with a DRK, MNK or SAM coz they hit very hard. Just wondering if the extra ooomph of damage would help keep the enemy on you or get the enemy's attention if it breaks loose.. thanks..

Shield Bash generates a decent amount of hate. I'd say its about equal to a Provoke. I just wish it was a faster refresh than 5 minutes.

yup exactly, shield bash and sentinel works like provoke just the cooldown really sux :mad: But just like provoke if the person the enemy is hitting hits way too strong once he hits the enemy again the enemy's attention will go back to him :mad: Really having a hard time wen that happens :confused:

IF anything i would say go polearm, not 2hand sword. Paladins are the second best job at Polearm and why not use pentathrust for extra aggro!

Paladins are rated E in Polearm skill, where Dragoon is A+, both Samurai and Warrior are B-.

So we're 2nd best at Polearm? What?

Let's put it into perspective with numbers.

At level 56, a Dragoon has 183 skill, Samurai and Warrior trail not far behind at 176 each, and we are 153 skill...

High level monsters have such high evasion if you use anything other than an A rated weapon, you're going to have such a hard time hitting it. I miss a ton on crabs in Boyahda with our A+ ranking in 1hand sword already. I'd hate to think what it would be like with an E rated weapon.
