The Paladin's best weapon is the one-handed sword, and most Paladins always use them. It's true that they can also use one-handed and two-handed staffs well, but not as well as a sword. That shadow-dragons site doesn't list the plus and minuses of a weapon, unlike this site that does: http://www.ausystem.org/~aushacho/gbox/ff/skill.html#3

Paladins are actually A+ with a one-handed sword, as opposed to A- with staffs.
