Paladins Atttack power with 2hand sword

just wondering how well paladins dish out damage with there 2 hand swords. I hear that paladins get some powerfull 2 hand swords at higher levels. well any info about this will be great. thanks

from what i hear too pallys are the second worst melee class but why do you want to use a 2hand sword? you cant use shield bash wich i think would help a lot on magic enemies and your vit will lower without a shield. Pallys are for def member?

There are many times when a pld would use a 2hs.. im not guna get into it now. Shield bash is useless @ higher levels, and your vit will NOT lower if you dont have a shield.

Yes, mostly they use a sword/shield, but there are times when a 2hs is acceptable

Actually an Elvaan lvl 70 pal only has like 4 points less str than a lvl 70 elvaan DRK

Need to take into account Passive and Active abilities of each class. These will push the damage or defense up.

I believe Paladins have more defensive oriented passive and active abilities, while Dark Knigts are all offensively focused.

2. If PLD's were that close to DRK's in STR, and their defense was incredibly high, wouldn't everyone want to be a PLD... the overpowered melee that can dish out buttloads and take anything?

3. There's more than passive and active abilities. At lvl 70, a DRK/WAR can use berserk+warcry+last resort+darkness, a PLD can only use berserk+warcry. Berserk raises your attack, but lowers your defense, warcry raises everyone's attack in your party, last resort does the same as berserk, only lasts less time(30sec), and darkness takes away from your HP and raises your attack 150%. Combine all that with passive attack boosts that a PLD doesn't get, and ALSO the stat boosts the armor and weapons DRK's can use. Scythes can raise attack power quite a lot, as well as other boosts such as protein based foods that raise STR.

Dont me started about the beta testers on gamefaqs..:

"FFXI is not very PT oriented, you get very little xp"
"So I was leveling with an alliance.... (no need to go further)"
"There arent enough 'regular' monsters to kill.."

You DONT level in an alliance, Partys are the ONLY way to get decent xp.. stop fighting the same enemys you did solo, and there are MORE then enough.
