There is a good point, it gives more clarity and logic to why he'd ask that question. Now the thing is did he actually get that from seeing those items or from something else?

I generally don't like to make assumptions unless they have very clear fessible reasoning. This post has a clear enough reasoning to it, I'm still just curious if that's what sparked the original posters question. If it is this then well hopefully he's getting a very clear answer that Ambidexterity on the item means Dual Wield.

      Sorry to confuse everyone

Yeah, I was talking about the stats on Ninja Chainmail, "Enhances 'Ambidexterity' effect". I should've checked a dictionary, gotta stop being lazy.

So... does this mean Ninja Chainmail enhances Dual Wield? I never heard of this before

what is the whole "dual wield formula" for the various lvls (I, II, III, and IV)?

Are they the same for Main (nin/xxx) as for Sub (xxx/nin)?

Id be interested to know, as RDM, for subbinf pourposes.

there was a thread on dual wield calculations earlier.

from the best of my understanding it goes something like this...

                  Your Delay = (delay1 + delay2) * DWc

                  delay1: delay of first weapon
                  delay2: delay of second weapon
                  DWc: dual wield coeffecient.

                  Dual Wield I DWc: .90
                  " " II DWc: .85
                  " " III DWc: .75
                  " " IV DWc: .70

                  Ninja Chainmail: -.05

The dual wield coeffecients are the same for all classes however, DW III and DW IV are lv. 45 adn 65 respectively so if you sub ninja you will only have access to DW II at best.

Other items like suppanomni (sp?) and spells like haste or brd songs like march will also increase your atk speed among other things.

I am just starting NIN so I am still placing dots on my mind map trying to form up a big picture of how the algorithms behind NIN tick.

Nooby Question 1: The DWC is a composite delay for one complete attack cycle for a NIN I.E. both hands will attack.

Coming back to the ambidextrous point: The Elvaan in the earlier part of the thread mentioned that he's character appeared to be left handed? Does anybody have proof of being left or right handed? Which races are which handed?

Additionally: Picking up on a seperate thing, he said his left hand did more damage than his right (would make sense if their is a "handedness" characteristic at work here). How beneficial would sacraficing DMG (off hand has less damage and less acc as is the way with a real off hand) for speed/acc (EG Bee Stinger kind of speed) to reduce the total DWC to a very low delay?

Like I said I am very new to NIN, level 9, but I hope they are reasonably intelligent questions.

DWc is just a coefficient used for each lvl of dual wield. its the modifer that adjusts the delay of each round of atk: swing both hands.

i dont think theres any relation with what hand is dominant. if you put a lower delay weapon in ur off hand that will lower your combined delay and thus lower your effective dual wield delay.

I really have stopped believing people when they say consistantly see things happening because more often than not, it's not consistantly but merely people "not seeing" what they didn't expect to see.

There are a lot of flukes and such that last a min or maybe even 5 min. May happen 2x in a row so it must be consistant for a lot of people.

For instance, some people claimed the moldvite earring was a 100% guaranteed drop since they got it 4 times in a row for someone.

It took me 14 kills on that goblin before I got mine. It is far from consistant.

I've managed to get 6 critical hits in a row on ninja before after eating a gusbit grass. For a while I thought the grass had a hidden effect of enhancing critical hit%.

It does not. After testing it out for an hr it simply does not do this.

As many ppl have tested with smn skill and various anacedotal evidence about how one smn with higher skill was "consistantly doing more damage with higher skill"

It really seems to fall into the category of not seeing what they didn't want to see. The times they were resisted somehow just got tossed by the wayside because they were resisted, but the times their competition were resisted, it was automatically evidence for them to make an assumption.

People look at carbuncle meteorite doing some 48 damage like 5 times in a row automatically assume that it's the smn skill's problem since they saw so many resists and know that other smn who had capped skill was doing some 400 damage.

What they forgot in the comparison was that this particular fight was vs IT++ raptors which were strong to fire.

Versus the last time where the mobs were spiders and or bats which were more succeptable to the light + fire spell.

Even testing on the same mobs, it's really only "noticed" that one smn was doing more damage "consistantly" than another.

People who go out of their way and actually test, really can't seem to see any sort of consistancy. If you play out the numbers long enough and actually graph them vs just looking at the numbers that seem to appeal to you, it shows a lot about human bias in these matters.

As to the OP, I've never seen ambidexterity refered to anything other than dual wield delay modification in the game.

There is no such thing as handedness in the game as far as anyone has ever noticed. Sometimes one hand does more damage and sometimes less. It could vary wildly and you can get streaks up pretty high. I very much attribute the lefthandedness to just random error and not actually an in game feature.
