NIN/BLM (A must read)

Before you flame me or call me a n00b for bringing up this kind of combination, let me say I would've never thought /BLM to EVER be a viable sub for NIN (or any other besides /WAR). However, I urge you to read this topic, look for the creator's post and the screenshots he posted.

What basically this is all about is a Nuking NIN, a lvl 65+ tarutaru NIN/BLM with a bunch of INT equips, and HQ elemental staves, the NIN deals around 180 points of damage using a "Ni" elemental spells, not only does he dish good damage, but he tanks. I believe some people might find this extremely fascinating.

It does look very interesting, but extremely expensive.

Still, maybe its something high level Ninja's should keep an eye on, for hnm battles or even exp parties if you can support this kind of insane Ninjutsu use. The charm of this is that this combination is more reliant on the Elemental Viels that are Ninja main, and skillful use of change macro's and ofcourse raw cash rather than your limited mp pool of the sub, so its very general race friendly.

I've noticed there's been a lot of experimentation with Ninja lately, over the normal "evasion overload Ninja/Warrior" setup thats become the standard.

I like that, the Japanese players have never been afraid to experiment with strange combinations or circumstances, but at the same time they don't deny that the standard combo's like Nin/War are still the best, or try to overthrow it, they just experiment for the sake of experimenting. Thats how you find these kinds of things.

Anyways, enough of my ranting, it could be an interesting idea to keep in mind for end game Ninja's or any high level rich player that wants to try out Ninja. So you'd have the standard high dot atk fighter/evasion tank combination for general use and exp parties in general, Nin/War or Nin/Rng using massive amounts of the most powerful Shuriken, and maybe this to explore the Ninja's mystical side to the job, incase of certain mobs you want to take down that happen to be resiliant to physical attacks.

On the road to the end game Nin/War's comfortably safe as a highly regarded job, end game though I've heard numorous times that flexibility with your job becomes pretty welcome. Hope I can see those sometime.

Neat. Not very practical, but neat nonetheless. It'd be even better if you had a bard throwing in threnodies, I'd think. Now, imagine doing that kind of build if there were San ninjutsu...that'd be some sick sick damage.

It does about 50-120 depending on elemental weakness of the mob and the element attack now with Ni. If it were San, looking at the difference between Ichi and Ni, it could do 150-250 on a regular basis. With this combo and Bard Threnodies, it could go as high as 300-350. Along with elemental enfeebling.

what did he use for head equip o.o Why not nin af? the boost from ninjutsu skill increases the dmg it does, i've tried it but i havn't subbed blm before on nin.. i always "warp" by using my 2hr >.>

i think + ninjutsu skill just lower the chance for resist? if it works like + elemental skill for blm.

Interesting, but with the constant staff swapping you won't ever have any TP.
Making a complete circle through the elemental wheel happens well before the recast time on your first elemental ninjitsu is ready again.
6 different Ni elementals ~2sec cast time, 40 second recast.
So you are looking at around ~20seconds of time waiting to cast again.

Would you melee during this time and throw all the TP gain away once you start the elemental cycle again? Ninja have no staff skilling ability which hurts as well.

Staff swapping could be good even for NIN/WAR if you just spent all your TP on a katana ws and wanted a larger ninjitsu burst, then immediately swap back to katana.

A NIN/RNG can do something similar by staff swapping for elemental ninjitsu spamming then reverting to shuriken spam or gun ws. Another good way to burn gil even faster

-Do one cycle of ninjitsu+staff swapping (tp 0%)
-(every 5minutes) Swap to ranged acc gears, sharpshot+barrage with gun, shoot until elementals timer is ready, let loose slugshot or katana ws.
-Do another cycle of ninjitsu+staff swapping, fill in recast time with shurikens or gun.

I am curious what the damage increase for not subbing /blm and swapping in an elemental staff is.

It hurts for meleeing purposes, but they do have the skill from the BLM sub. So...stuff.

I saw that and I was pretty shocked.

Granted, you need godly equipment to pull off that combination as well as stacks and stacks of powders...

but Ni Ninjitsu take 1.5 seconds to cast.

160-190 damage PER HIT on ninjitsu. (half it if its resisted)

That's more than rngs per shot.

3-4 of those easily overpower a lvl 3 nuke.

Yogz, we're gonna try this out in my SPT when we get to 60. Actually we were originally going to try NIN/RNG but our NINs weren't too keen on throwing away tons of money per battle (shuriken spam) :sweat:

One of the NIN's is going to sub BLM or RDM with all the elemental staves and other INT gear and try this. Maybe we can test this with /RNG like Navia recommended, because I do like the idea of "elemental wheel of death" then barrage+slugshot.

I'm guessing that they need to recast Utsusemi Ichi and Ni as well, and perhaps they can use their enfeeble ninjutsu.

After all that, the elemental ni's should be ready to cast again.

I think RDM would be better overall... I mean, what does BLM give? More MP (whee)? RDM still have a magic attack +, more INT, more HP, dispel, gravity, phalanx (of course gimped due to low enhancing but still).

I mean, BLM just adds a couple Magic Attack+'s, so maybe NIN/RNG can still do well.

We'll probably try to test this next week... wish my NIN was higher than 37 so I could test it out personally but alas...

The taru nin/blm who did this, had a speed belt and I'm sure haste on at all times. This will dramatically decrease the recast time of spells. He also had to cast Utsusemi mixed in w/ the Ni spells.

Secondly, the thread said he never even engaged in battle, so apparently TP wasn't an issue, since all he did was Utsusemi and Elemental Ni spells and held hate.

That magic atk bonus of a /blm might actually make a good bit of difference so that /blm is preferred over /rdm. We'll find out soon....
