i'm a few levels lower but i just sprang for a busoto and busoto +1. liking them so far. as a 51 thief i'd say don't bother with daggers... they're not really worth it for anyone except thf and ranger long term for the stat ups and sa/ta/viper.

my earrings are garbage and my rings kinda suck (amethyst and sardonyx) tho i hope to get courage and balance soon. using a nomad mantle and warriors belt +1. milking a full mercenary's set til i can go soil (what level is windurstian gi?) and i dunno if it's right or not per se but i've been focusing on +vit just so i don't get quite so creamed. evasion only seems to go so far.

For feet, even though they are low level defense and fairly cheap, I'd recommend some Light Soleas. They are like level 13 or something I think, and have +3 evasion...that's all I can remember about them though.

I'm fairly sure that they are NIN useable...I just started leveling my ninja myself and am having quite fun with it so...We'll see how far it goes...Check em out though, run for 2.5k on my server.

(Btw, Thanks for listing what stuff does and what you use, will help me in deciding what to buy for my guy. I'm level 8 right now so...In the process of researching new gear after I get out of Valkurm or something, so like level 20ish).

Level 27, and my current equips are:

Busuto +1 (x2)
Wingedge / Shurikens (these can be bought fairly cheaply from Norg on certain days; Norg is also good for cheap[er] Uchitake)
Emperor Hairpin
Spike Necklace
Mythril Earring (x2)
Chainmail
Chain mittens
Balance ring (x2)
Nomad's mantle
Warrior's belt +1
Chain hose
Greaves

By 30, I plan to swap out the mythril earrings for dodge earrings (which will again be replaced by drone earrings at 35), the chain gear for studded/Ryl.Sqr. gear (at least, what can't be replaced with +eva gear), and the Wingedge for a Chakram.

I skimped on some of my body gear - mostly, chain hose instead of Kingdom Trousers (Evasion+3, VIT+1, and... 2 less DEF than chain hose), but I seem to do an OK job of tanking. I've been trying to balance DEF and evasion at my level, because I know I'll still be taking hits when Utsusemi is down... when I get Ni, I'll probably lean more toward evasion, depending on how parties turn out.

I don't think light soleas are useable by NIN. I vaguely remember looking at those (along with various other +evasion/+agi gear), and sulking about it. Square-Enix is so unfair. ;0;

I'm at 20, currently taking a break from leveling to farm for my ninja gear to 33 or so. Was planning on:

Wingedge
Emperor Hairpin
Spike Necklace
Shield Earring to 29, then 2xDodge Earring
Windhurst Gi
Windhurst Tekko
Windhurst Sitabaki
Balance ring + Bastok Ring (call me crazy but I like that Bastok ring)
Traveler's Mantle->Nomad's mantle
Warrior's belt +1
Leaping Boots

Already have most of it in my Mog House, just working on the Emperor Hairpin, Dodge Earrings, and the three Windy pieces.

Anyways, I was wondering about how long the Leaping Boots will last me, when is there something better. I could upgrade to Winged for 50k or so, and get 2 more defense, but I really want something different on my feet for a change :sweat:

Are daggers really that bad? So far I've been keeping all three weapons current (katana, 1h sword, and daggers). I like the accuracy up on the Merc's Knife that I have equipped now, and 2xParry Knives seems very respectable IMO for a ninja.
