(NOTE: the lvl 60 shuriken are made only 3 at a time and can only stack to 12, mainly the reason none see the light of day in ah)
Hope that helps, from personal experience in makin my own stars I advise the following
#1 CAP CAP CAP your throw B4 using stars
#2 If you mine DO NOT sell the dark steel, gold ore you find. Make a mule and store them it will add up in the end
#3 Get good at mining and gardening. Blacksmith will drive you to poverty and its not popular as Goldsmith items in AH
Forgive my Kanji Im on JP PS2 playin FFXI
ALL info came from : www.ffrecipe.com
very good guilding site if you can read the kanji^^

Amazing what one will do to level Blacksmith in this game -.-
The low level shurikens come in sets of 33 per successful non-HQ synth.
Ninja tools comes from different guilds, mainly Carpentry and Alchemy. You can start making shiheis around level 22 (but you will fail quite often without support from the NPC guilders). I don't know what the English names of the items are, but I think it's Bast Parchment x 2 + Black Ink + Wind Crystal. You need to be around level 29ish to start making shiheis with little failing. These also come in sets of 33.
The price for the lvl 60 shuriken as well as the fact that you can only stack to 12 makes me wonder why even bother with them?
My question about making shihei is the cost of bast parchment. I tried looking it up and it was a rather high lvl alchemy recipe. That is alot of guild to have. Oh well. Right now my plan I guess is to get warrior up (past AF etc) and raise my ninja to around 37. Then get some good gil/ get my crafting skills up (although it the patches keep screwing with crafting then I will not be able to do this). I think what they did with crafting is seriously messed up, especially when all the importers and japaneese players have already leveled up their crafting skills. So basically it puts all new players at a disadvantage and makes it nearly impossible to raise craft skill up.
I wanted to get my crafting skill up and then switch servers when they make a new one, but now I will probobly not do this.
All I really want to do is ninja. But it is impossible, to be a good ninja you need to be insanely rich. AND I AM!!! I have everything, I have all this stuff for my ranger I wasn't cheap, i have emperor's hairpin, leaping boots, brigandine +1, sniper rings, deft rings, I mean I thought that it was expensive.
But ninja is insane, it makes ranger look like white mage.
It is going to be a while before I can do this I see.
where do you guy's farm the materials for these synthesis because if I do go ninja I do not want to be spending any of my gil on things like this even if that means months of farming for materials.
ROFL NIN is expensive but it is also a exellent job to make gill as well. At lvl 60 i can safely solo coffer mobs in kuftal and sea grotto. Although soloing those mobs for keys is not my idea of a good time ><;;. NIN can farm mostly any decent drops mix that with minimum restting, you have a farm machine. As far as expense in pt, NIN main problem is ninjutsu. A good pt can cost you 30k (note: do not use shuriken in every pt, its not worth it)
Also it depends on the nin you want to be, what equipment you want and etc... PERSONLY i have 1.7 mill of equip on and my last acces. I will get/but runs about 4 mill on my server. THATS IT for acces. now armor......thats another story lol. RNG can be equally as expensive, but no and i mean NO RNG will use thier best arrows in random lvl up pt. The same can be said about the lvl 60 stars, I will save them for HNM,NM,BCNM fights^^
