Noob ninja, few questions.

Finished the advanced job for NIN this weekend and leveling it furiously to sub for my thief. Couple of questions:

The lvl 9 spell sells for 20k, so, I'll be questing for it instead. Apparently Norg is where the quest is, but my fame has to be high enough to do it? Will I need to complete many quests in Norg for this? If so, how many, and where can I find out about these.

What about the level 12 spells?

Apparently after I learn the spells I'll need the corresponding powder to cast them ( hence the lack of MP needed to cast I assume ). These powders are created by people, but can I also buy them someplace besides the AH?


What is the Tonshido and how do I get an invite?

Where do I get the level 12 Great Katana?

I did a quest in Port Bastok to raise the fame. You'll need to trade 4 zinc ores to a NPC in a warehouse in Port Bastok. I did it 32 times. To get the jist of the quest, it's the second one under completed bastok quests in this guide :

What about the level 12 spells?

There's only one level 12 spell, blink, which you have to quest for. The level 15 ones, the elemental debuffs, can be bought for 2K each in Norg.

Unless you make them yourself, no.

What is the Tonshido and how do I get an invite?

Tonshido is just Norg fame. Just do the zinc ore quest and you'll be fine.

Where do I get the level 12 Great Katana?

Norg. Costs 3K.

I got an invite for the tonshido ( from a friend, I didnt do the quest ) ( murdering the spelling of that )...rice balls are 161. Think i can do the lvl 9 quest now? Or do I still need to get x amount of fame.


Hit 10 last night with the nin and switched back over to thf/nin. Heh, DPS went up quite a bit now that I can use my windhurst knife AND the centurions sword.

But, damn, I can see you are right about the farming. Welp at least it just got a bit easier.

You may not be able to get the first Ninja quest until Rice balls are in the 150-155 gil range. I can't get it with rice balls at 162 so I still have a ways to go

u got invited from a friend? how does that work? also, what craft can powders be made from?

Tenshodo Invite can be bought for about 1k at AH if you dont have a friend to give it to you. But you'll get another tenshodo invite after trading it to the mithra at the counter, so you can sell it back on AH or give it to a friend. As for the powders, here's a list of recipes:

There are a couple more ninja scrolls that are questable that require norg fame. These scrolls each run 20k roughly in the AH but are easy to do so there is no reason to not have them.

Level 19 - Kurayami: Ichi (blind)
Level 23 - Hojo: Ichi (slow)
Level 27 - Dokumori: Ichi (poison)
