I agree, I dont want capes to be shown. Most armors look good without the cape and with the cape they just look stupid. For instance like the monk gi's. Now if they had armor with visible capes that are seperate than the equippable capes than yeah.

Well for the Ninja I would boost their melee skills so they could atleast do decent damage. Maybe a passive skill that increases chance of a crit. attack would help. A multi-form powder line would be cool like split into three images but the two copys wont do damage just take a hit then disappear. Make it so the powders will not make the Ninja class like it is now make it more of a added bonus.

      Well thats all I got

I think the images would cause some unecissary lag.

Yea instead of boosting damage by a lot, The Ninjas should be a lot more stealthy. Ninjas were paid by the government to assasinate people if this was correct I don't know much about Ninjas history. But they should be assasins for sure. Sneaky Sneaky Sir.

As far as capes go, Make capes paladin only. Paladins with white capes which has a symbol of there own nation on the back would just look awesome!

Yeah the sneakiness factor has to be upped a lot.

I think most people on this thread agree that what the Ninja desperatly needs is certain passive abilities. The class by itself as it is now is already cool, and if you prepare your equipment just right at higher levels it can do a variety of things, but as it stands other than the Ichi and Ni series, and better Duel Wield at higher levels the class has not much else.

Passive of increased critical rate would be sensible and not unrealistic at all. Passives that would make the most sense to me is Increased critical rate, or ignore defense with your regular hits (Up to 15 or maybe 20 % at max so it doesn't become too overpowering) Maybe a passive to increase the chance of weapon effects (poison etc) taking effect, or even inherant weapon effects that just come from you.

No matter whats up with the above though, I think the two abilities the Ninja needs most of all is Auto Sneak, and the San series. (Utsusemi San etc. Which probably has the most chance of showing up eventually)

I agree with everyone that the "sneakiness" factor needs to be upped. When you do the ninja quest, you're told how ninjas don't fight like warriors but instead use stealth and surprise to win battles. But what do we end up doing? We stand there while the monsters swing at us to let everyone else do their job. Yeah, real cunning. "Hey monster, I'm over here, swing at me! Hit me! Hit me!" It doesn't "feel" like what a ninja was intended for.

The spoon throwing dagger... toss it for 9999 damage.

1.) Add passive Evasion boost at increments of 10 levels (10, 20, 30...).
2.) Utsusemi-Ichi/Utsusemi-Ni put cooldown on them at 5 min.
3.) Every 20 levels passive Critical Hit boost (5%)
4.) When using Tonko ability you gain the affect of Sneak, Invis, and Deodorize).
5.) Stealth ability causes shadowed appearance when in areas/hours of darkness (caves, night time etc.)
6.) Add alot more weapons & Armors.
7.) Ninja Boots 0 Def level 50 (Constant Sneak Affect)
8.) Ninja Gloves 0 Def level 50 (Constant Deodorize)
9.) Ninja Hood 0 Def level 50 (Constant Invisible)

The idea in replacing utsusemi, or making it less effective getting rid of 'blink tank status'. But w/ the evasion increases (especially if you sub thf) would give you an obscene amount of evasion, 140+ at lvl 30... Meaning you would become very hard to hit, but when you do hit you take some damage. You would also be stealthy sometimes just in appearance, and if you feel like your stealthy, it makes it easier to fit into the role and enjoy it more.

I can see it in a PT at night...
                  Warrior: Where did Desmar go?
Bard: Its night time his stealth ability makes him hard to see.
                  Black Mage pokes Desmar.
                  Black Mage: Hehe
White Mage: Wow thats cool I wish I was a ninja.
Warrior: Well atleast a Ninja's a Ninja now I can get my provoking job back instead of losing it to a blink tank.

Geeze what a godly wish list! >< I think this thread needs some boundaries like what _feasible_ changes could you see in the future? You might have well listed a 2hr ability that turns you into a GM! Not that i'm bashing your post or anything but its best not to get your hopes up with such stuff. Square has designed the game to fit pretty intricately and balanced according to their own secret master plan and from what i've seen thus far they wont change it much to suit individual player desires. I guess I happened to luck out with Ninja because I personally like the idea of blink tanking and feel that it _IS_ the Ninja's role in this game. For those who dont dig the idea, well I can empathize with your frustration because yes, the other reason I went Ninja is because I like the Ninja concept.

In retrospect maybe threats like this in general are a bad idea... in the end you have no control in what the designers are going to do with their game concept. Unless of course Kiyosuki is a designer fishing for feedback and ideas LOL!

You aren't are you? If you are you'd better say so! ><

Wow, most of us want the same things!

                      My list is as follows:

                      - Sneak ninjutsu.. seems odd that ninja can't sneak thru mobs
                      - Throwing WS would be awesome
                      - Some Job Ablities that does something to Attck, Evasion, Throwing or Ninjutsu would be nice. Only one JA sucks, and that only one is our 2hour...

I very much wish I was one of the programmers but unfortunatly I'm not. I just like hearing other idea's as long as its within realistic bounds. :D

I started this thread though mostly because the game really isn't perfectly balanced. Probably never will be but the beauty of an MMORPG is you don't have to run by the mentality of "Thats the way it is, and the way it always will be so get used to it." attitude like with most games, because this one can be constantly expanded and tweaked on. Although Utsusemi tanking is very useful its become somewhat of a specialized use for certain situations, while most other jobs really have a general and constant use in a pt with whatever a pt needs. I'm not much of an MMORPG guy but I've heard in most of those types that classes and the way they're used can change dramatically in an instant with as little as just one extra ability sometimes, or one tweak in stats.

Plus its just speculation, what a message board is good for isn't it? :D

Anyways, the thread continues, I've already given my two cents. :D I don't think the Ninja needs major, and massive new abilities but I still believe that some very slight tweaks and some passives would greatly improve the class. I think it doesn't need to be a damage dealer, but its specific uses need to be better focused on. I'll still use it though, for whatever reason and all the people breathing down my back about needing to be rich. :D

call it the Strider scarf :D

                              what else do they need...

ninja only mask that covers the face, with little horns, make it go in a set with genji gear and assassin (katana)

Square-Enix could release 'kits' of armor to make you appear like different Final Fantasy ninja's.

a few things about ninja though...

they should not hit as hard as a warrior, dragoon, dark knight, or monk.

Why? Those classes do not get access to the wide range of ninjitsu's that ninja possess. It is the same reason that redmages are not monsters in hand to hand. Ninjas are a more melee oriented redmage of sorts, they have given up healing and nuking to become even more focuse melee enfeeblers.

If it was an ideal world, ninjas would use MP, not items, ninjitsu would be enfeebling magic, and rdm/nin would be as logical as drk/war.

In my opinion, first alteration that should be made to Ninja is make them incapable of tanking. The idea of a Ninja is a stealthy assassin who strikes from the shadows and returns to them before being seen. This is diametrically opposed to the role of tank, gaining and keeping lots of attention. It seems extremely unlikely that Square intended for Ninjas to become tanks, it's just that the players found a different use for an ability they were given. So, to take away a Ninja's ability to tank - without taking away Utsusemi or making it more difficult to use in soloing - my idea is thus. Make Ninjas 'shed hate' very fast. I've read the theory that each time they player is hit by the monster, hate toward them is decreased. Make a Ninja's hate decrease 10 times faster than anyone else's... Hence, a Ninja might get hate for a few moments, but two or three hits, and the monster would turn away.

Next, as people have suggested...Job Abilities that give them defense-ignoring attacks. Ninja seems like an attacker class, give them some abilities to give them a little more damage. Non-stackable with Sneak/Trick Attack, as I understand that high level Ninja/Thief already has good damage.

Also, increase their sneaking ability, as people have said. If a passive Sneak would be overpowered, make it another Job Ability. Combined Sneak/Invis/Deodorize. 5 minute duration, 10 to 20 minute cooldown. That would probably do it...it would certainly make Ninjas much more Ninja-like.
Koyasha, Paladin, Red Mage, White Mage...
