You cannot use Utsusemi: Ni alone for tanking. The recast timer is 50 seconds, and you need Utsusemi: Ichi to keep blink shadows on yourself while you wait for the timer to go away.

If you don't plan to actively tank, Utsusemi: Ni is perfectly adequate to keep things from damaging you if you ever manage to draw hate.
