What exactly is Stealth?

Is this some sort of constant sneak, or just a small chance that someone wont see or hear you?

I ask because if it is just a constant sneak, then a lvl 11 nin sub would be almost as effective as a whm sub when it comes to monster avoidance (minus deoderize of course).

Just a passive ability, decreases the range at which monsters can detect and aggro you.

i know the description of stealh as given by the game but i was wondering how effective it is? can it replace sneak or any other ability? If not, whats the sense?

Just FYI, Ive gotten nin to 15 and so far i have only noticed a slight difference concerning Stealth.

With invis on and running through the cave that connects the main part of Valkrum Dunes to the area near the highlands i managed to get by the sand bats with out aggro.

This could be luck or the ability.
Overall id say the ability is rather poor but oh well i guess

Its a passive ability folks, it reduces teh range at which monsters that detect by sight will aggro you, does not make you invisible.

Usually the distance between when you'd usually be detected is almost halved with Stealth.

FYI Bats see through Invis, they use sound to detect.

Anyone sure whether the ninja's stealth stacks with the ranger's?

The only advice I can give you is play your NIN as if you do not have Stealth
