  • Poor low level ninja, and nin/war vs war/nin

So anyway my nin is 15. I want to keep her leveled to keep up to my main thf (40 now), but it seems nobody wants me in parties. I have no money to buy blink, so I can't tank. My damage isn't that great, and I have exactly zero abilities that benefit parties.

So ... what to do? Stop leveling and go gil hunting full time with thf til I have enough money to buy blink? Keep repeating tenshodo quests to get the scroll quest?

Also, how much less desirable is a 40/15 thf/nin compared to a 40/20? Will people look at me and say 'wow a subjob that's less than half of main, must suck don't invite him?'

And secondly ... I was thinking about nin/war for tank, and it crossed my mind that war/nin should theoretically be an even better tank. He has provoke, has blink (I'm assuming lvl 24+), can use 2hand axe for shield break etc etc, more attack power, more useful abilities ... yet I haven't come across a single war/nin whereas nin/wars seem to be quite popular. Am I missing anything special with regards to why this is so?

If PT leaders dont invite you due to your sub then they are a complete jackass . Technically you should have a sub leveled to your main (half) already. If you wanted to sub a job that below half your main ask the PT leader when you get in the party or ask when your joining. And dont forget..you can make parties to.

I knew that we Ninjas will go broke, that's why i decided to hunt NM and got my leaping boots. That'll hold out for a while...i hope.

Deo, i would suggest you hunt NMs or gil farm. Ninja is an expensive job and only really recommended to those people who can support it.

If it's your sub, all you need to buy is blink.

I would recommend you level your sub to it's full potential, just to help you out stat-wise. (John Doe or Zandria- whichever- only says that cause his SAM was deficient in the past. /wave.zand)

If none of this makes sense, blame my weak, tired mind.

            Nin/war

            NOT A TANK

            but damage dealer

the fast attack speed will increase the chances of seeing double attacks, and berserk will be a general boost

as well as att I and II

            war/nin

dual wield axes for crazy action

that's about it, the ninjitsu is a very small bonus.

How exactly is a NIN/WAR a damage dealer? Is this compared to a paladin perhaps? Honestly ninjas don't deal a whole lot of damage but can tank like no other if they can afford too.

And as far as WAR/NIN goes I think calling blink a "very small bonus" is understating the effectiveness of blink by quite a large margin. Considering now that at very late levels a nin subbed class can attain blink2 it makes it even more desirable.

nin does crazy dmg! like 40 per turn w

and he's right, nins don't need ninjutsu, utsusemi is very seldomly used (every few mins?) XD

I think Mitsu has some interesting ideas to deal dmg with NIN, but I do not think that NIN will ever come near the standard 'damage dealers' in terms of damage dealt overall.

but if you were to use ninjitsu to lower resistances, then had a blm nuke, you contribute to the overall damage done.

ninjas attack fast, that's how they deal damage.
a nin/war will have attack boost, berserk, and double attack at later levels, agressor too (I think)

With the exception of NIN/DRK, NIN/WAR will deal the best damage for a NIN combo, supposedly.

NIN/THF is one of those combos that makes sense on paper but not in execution from what I've seen of them.

WAR/NIN isn't used because most main WAR use a 2H Axe for obvious reasons, and therefore dual wield is completely useless.

I think you missed my point, Ninja no matter what you sub isn't going to be considered a big player in the damage dealing category. Even the most attack orientated Ninja is still going to fall behind the big hitters such as Dark, drg, and rng.

And to Pikachu, aggressor is a level 45 warrior ability so no Ninjas will not get that =/

Ah, yeah I agree with that from what I've seen (though I think DRG being a heavier hitter is negotiable ).
